Maura Quigley's curator insight, November 18, 12:36 PM

This is 20 tips for social media marketing from the pros of social media marketing. The tips were very good and ranged from checking data from long ago to data currently being created. Some of the tips I already knew such as adding links and enhancing posts with images. I learned about social media channel plans and how a company can figure out the best channels for their brand. Some of the content was very easy to understand and seemed straightforward such as delivering consistent content. Also, Pinterest cannot be used for all brands, but for others it makes sense and they can be quite successful on that social media channel. I also noticed that not a lot of people use hashtags effectively. It was point number 9 and very important. I don't think a lot of people realize this and don't use them for a purpose. One of the most important points I thought, was to use time effectively.

What New SEOs Don't Know Unless You Tell Them.

What New SEOs Don't Know Unless You Tell Them. | SEO Tips, Advice, Help | Scoop.it
Think everyone knows as much as you do about SEO? Think again. Find out what the average client really knows and what happens when you don't make sharing your SEO knowledge a part of your standard business practice.
Bonnie Burns's insight:

It's easy to get excited about the new and shiny developments in search and to hang on Google's latest announcements, but there's no point in switching a site from HTTP to HTTPS if it doesn't even have appropriately keyword-rich title tags. There's no reason to run a button-color conversion rate optimization test on a site that's still using the manufacturer's default description on product pages. Sometimes your traffic is plummeting because you haven't checked for new 404 errors in 6 months, not because you've been hit with a penalty. Think horses, not zebras, and don't forget one important fact: Most people have no idea what we're talking about.

Website Visibility (SEO) – Don’t Stop | SEO Tips, Advice, Help | Scoop.it
Don’t look at the holidays as a time to take a rest from your website visibility efforts.
Bonnie Burns's insight:

SEO or as I think more aptly put, website visibility, plans are often thought of as one-time investments or just seasonal expenditures when a site’s traffic drops or a holiday season is approaching. What many clients do not understand is that SEO is not a "sometimes" choice, but a monthly necessity.

Google Officially Launches "Mobile-Friendly" Labels In Mobile Search Results

Google Officially Launches "Mobile-Friendly" Labels In Mobile Search Results | SEO Tips, Advice, Help | Scoop.it

Google begins rollout of mobile-friendly search label in the mobile search snippets.

Bonnie Burns's insight:

In an effort to help mobile searchers know which sites they may click on are mobile-friendly versus which ones are not, Google has added a text label under the URL in the snippet that reads “Mobile-friendly” as the first part of the search result’s snippet. Google said it can be a “frustrating experience for our mobile searchers” to end up on a web page that is not mobile-friendly, thus they are adding the label to their mobile search results to communicate this to the searcher.

Google is experimenting with a new search engine ranking algorithm for mobile friendly web sites. Here's some great tips on how you qualify to show such a label for your web pages.

Definitevily a great feature, specially for individuals with disabilities who rely on their mobile!

Gabriela Saltiel's curator insight, November 22, 7:03 PM

This article talks about how last week Google launched a new feature for their search engine through mobile/smart phones. Google realized that it was confusing and time consuming for users to go through a search and end up in a website that was not mobile-friendly. This caused users to become frustrated because the time they had spent looking for something had been a waste if the page was not readable. Because of this, they decided to create an algorithm that can recognize the websites that are mobile friendly, and place this mini “mobile-friendly” text along with the Google search. The company said their algorithm needs to recognize if the text is readable on mobile, if the images are easily seen, and if they have links that are easy to click on. If these things are detected and the page seems like it will be accessed easily on mobile, then it will be listed as mobile-friendly.
