Giving a present + Marketing = Happy Ending

Giving a present + Marketing = Happy Ending | SEO I Paid Search I Social Media | Scoop.it
Digital Gurus's insight:

In these eight simple steps I will illustrate how offering a present to someone using simple marketing techniques could improve satisfaction and develop future prospects….

1 - Take your time. Pick up ideas of what the person likes. Listen carefully. Maybe go back to a place that you know they have been before a likes a lot!

2 - Surprise them. Be discreet. Let them doubt a bit, let them thinking they might not be worth it.

3- Don’t forget to personalise the present. Make sure you add a special little touch. For example carve a little word on the present, draw on the card or anything that fits your imagination.

4 - Packaging is king!  Make sure you give it a pimped-up wrap. As they say in Finland: “a present well wrapped… is a present well wrapped”

5 - Choose the right words! Don’t forget the little message that goes with the present. Give it a slogan and a description. Keep the wording punchy! But don’t outsell yourself or you might upset that person further on down the line.

6 - Make it theatrical! You have to keep the surprise until the end. Don’t give the present straight away. Fuel their envy of that present throughout the day. Talk about subjects around that topic that will suggest the present discreetly. When they receive it, they will think that it was exactly what they wanted.

7 - Soon after these surprises have been all found and un-wrapped, make sure you tell them how nice it looks or how much they will enjoy it.

8 - The most important point is to retain good relationships with them after the present is given. Retain close contact and get to know them better for the next present.

Let’s not for get the kiss.

I will admit, I have a lot of personality flaws – including a massive ego, so big that I was absolutely delighted to win ‘biggest ego at STEAK’ at our company party last week. ‘About time’ was my overriding thought… apparently it’s not a complimentary award, more of a friendly criticism, but as far as I’m concerned a win is a win.

The New SEO Rules in a Content Marketing World

The New SEO Rules in a Content Marketing World | SEO I Paid Search I Social Media | Scoop.it

Five years ago, SEO was all the buzz. Today, it has shifted to "content marketing," which aims to create stories humans want to read and engage with. - The above chart is a good summary of this trend.

This one slide alone summarizes the major trend of these past few years.

In other words, Social Media is becoming the new SEO.

This has at least 2 consequences for Content Marketers:

1. Content Marketing is becoming more and more important: companies can't use old fashion backlinking techniques anymore.

2. Content needs to be shareable and target humans - not robots. In particular content curators who will amplify their content impact by adding the right context to the right audience.

Alison D. Gilbert's curator insight, October 30, 2013 4:33 PM

This is a good visual to explain the importance of good content.

Neil Ferree's comment, October 31, 2013 8:19 AM
Social Shares is the New SEO. Sure, links let the bots know there are other sites (authors) who find your content useful but when someone publically "shares" your content with their social connections, this social signals evokes trust in the author's content and authority.

Google has mastered the art of the internet. With proper Search Engine Optimization, marketers have the chance to gain a lot of hits with Google. In order to do this they must ensure that they have key words regarding their product/website, and that the key words are used continuously throughout the article so that Google will easily find it.

About time! I was beginning to wonder if Google had just abandoned us and left us at the mercy of Yelp and others. I subscribe to the daily digest from the Google Product Forums. I get it 4 or 5 per day, and to read all the complaints, I was just about to unsubscribe from it. Now, thanks to your post Linda, I can see a ray of light at the end of the tunnel. And this time, it doesn't seem to be the Yelp train coming. I really hope they also improve the verification process, when doing updates to the profiles, soon. I have some clients, that we helped to update their information, several months ago, and still waiting. Thank you Linda, as usual, you are on top with all the latest in Local Search. Keep up the good work, we need you!

We have been waiting for these positive changes for some time and hope they will be rolled out soon in Europe too.
