John Lincoln does a fantastic job compiling a list of the top SEO, Social Media and Analytic tools we have seen in a while.  Here are a list of some of the 80 that we use and can endorse:


SEO Tools:


1)  BuzzSumo - This tool is on everyone's list to find out what content is hot in your industry.  


2)  SEMrush - Use this tool to research your competitors and see what keywords and links they are ranking for.


3)  SerpBook - Great took for tracking your keywords on a daily basis


Social Media Tools:


1)  Pin Alerts - Simple tracking tool to see how many Pins you have received on your website (Free)


2)  Hootsuite - This is a common social media posting tool, but it also is good for analytics on your accounts.


3)  Tailwind -  This is a great tool for scheduling your Pinterest posts.  If you aren't using Pinterest you need to be for SEO and traffic.


There were many other tools that are great in the article.  Pick a couple to try out and see which ones you will ACTUALLY use.

We talked about SEO in class and I think this article has great tips on how to accomplish ranking higher in Google results. Having a great title is really important when it comes to being ranked higher on Google. Obiviously the title tag needs to be short, this article says under 55 words and the keywords that you expect people to look up in order to find you need to be in the title. Using visual media also helps because its boosts the user-interaction signals that Google pays attention to. As stated before, mentioning keywords is crucial. The more keywords, the better.

This article talks about how last week Google launched a new feature for their search engine through mobile/smart phones. Google realized that it was confusing and time consuming for users to go through a search and end up in a website that was not mobile-friendly. This caused users to become frustrated because the time they had spent looking for something had been a waste if the page was not readable. Because of this, they decided to create an algorithm that can recognize the websites that are mobile friendly, and place this mini “mobile-friendly” text along with the Google search. The company said their algorithm needs to recognize if the text is readable on mobile, if the images are easily seen, and if they have links that are easy to click on. If these things are detected and the page seems like it will be accessed easily on mobile, then it will be listed as mobile-friendly.
