11 Ways to Build Links Through Content Marketing

11 Ways to Build Links Through Content Marketing | SEO and Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

Anyone involved with online marketing and SEO already knows link building can be a dangerous game to play. For starters, you have to keep up-to-update to Google’s algorithmic changes and play by Google’s ever-changingWebmaster Guidelines. You also have to make sure you’re getting links from high-quality sites – and not those spammy, black-hat locations. Despite these challenges, link building works.

According to a study conducted by Moz  99.2% of the top 50 sites had at least one external website pointing to it.

The study also discovered that more links correlate with higher rankings and the chances of ranking for anything competitive is rare without links.

So, use these 11 content marketing strategies to build links safely and legitimately: http://www.searchenginejournal.com/11-essential-ways-build-links-content-marketing/139266/

- Online education sites such as Udemy, edX, ed2go, and iTunes

- Q&A sites like Quora, Yahoo Answers, Wiki Answers, and Ask.com

- Competitor research

- Traditional keyword research

'Any business can take advantage of local SEO’s benefits. Since Google’s fan-named “Pigeon” update in 2014, the importance of local SEO has grown, leading many entrepreneurs to focus on their strategy despite going years without considering a local tangent to their inbound marketing campaign.

The Psychology of Search – 5 Ways To Optimize For User Demand

The Psychology of Search – 5 Ways To Optimize For User Demand | SEO and Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

When search engines first revolutionized the Internet by indexing web pages and making it easier for people to find content by subject, those at the forefront of the industry quickly realized the value of maximizing their visibility through these search engines.

They surmised that a few identifiable criteria were used by the algorithms to understand websites and match them with searchers. Thus began the rise of ‘blackhat’ SEO tactics, such as keyword stuffing and backlinking.

The psychology of the consumer has been changing, however. Consumers are more sophisticated and better at inputting queries that help them quickly find what they are looking for. They are less likely to sift through second and third pages of results, especially on mobile devices.

As search engines are better able to separate high quality content from low, marketers must stop chasing the algorithm and optimize content for the user.

SEO Crisis: User Experience vs. Backlinks

SEO Crisis: User Experience vs. Backlinks | SEO and Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

Over at Entrepreneur, Jayson DeMers wrote a controversial SEO guide that is technically correct, but potentially misleading to small businesses.

His thesis is pretty straightforward: "The happier your users are when they visit your site, the higher you're going to rank." Simply put, you don't need advanced technical skills to do SEO right. Just create great content, lower your bounce rate, and watch your rankings rise.

He suggests that the key to successful SEO campaigns involves six points:

- Great user experience

- Quality content

- Being recognized as an authority

- Social media marketing

- Building your local reputation

- Using modern content management systems

Google knows you rmetrics with or without analytics now. So if you are getting bounces they know. If your engagement and pages suck they know. So why would they refer more to you when you keep treating what they give you poorly. Same with paid. They will raise the rate. You will pay more for the ticket to the dance than the guy with lots of engagement.

5 Modern Keyword Research Methods to Uncover Hidden Gems

5 Modern Keyword Research Methods to Uncover Hidden Gems | SEO and Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

Neil Patel: 'The bad news is that 80% of SEOs and marketers do keyword research wrong.

They plug in a main keyword into Google’s Keyword Planner, download the results, and then start sorting through them in a spreadsheet.

But here’s the thing: literally thousands of other marketers and SEOs have already searched that exact same keyword.

Unless you’re very lucky, you won’t find anything resembling a low-competition keyword to target.

Now, if you have a site with the authority of Quick Sprout, that’s not a big deal. But if you’re working with a less authoritative domain, or a brand new one, you need to find realistic keywords to rank for.

The good news is that the keyword planner only shows a very small portion of keywords you can target.

If you can find “hidden” keywords that have a decent search volume, but less competition, your organic search traffic will grow rapidly.

I’m going to walk you through 5 modern keyword research methods that you can use to uncover keywords that haven’t been targeted by hundreds or thousands of your competitors': http://www.quicksprout.com/2015/08/12/5-modern-keyword-research-methods-to-uncover-hidden-gems/
