Most social media sites consequently use the nofollow attribute, and this would mean that the traditional approach to ranking pages is not an initiator. Of course, there are those who believe that Google is selective in the sense of treating nofollow links.

 

One should keep in mind that the signal is not always the same as the ranking factor. Google said: “We are using it as a signal in ranking of organic news and results. Also, we use it for improving news on the basis of how many people shared an article.” 

 

Other types of signals are:

 

 - Discovery

 - The concept of trust (sites and users)

 - Temporal (speed)

 - Context (semantics)

 - Behavioral

I liked how this article discussed the issues that marketing teams face in the office. Aligning goals are always a difficult thing to coordinate between conflicting team members. Sourcing team members to align their perception is able to be done through effective incentives and team building activities. Discussing the issues and conflicts can generate both new perspectives and goals that can change and improve a campaign. It is desirable for managers to maintain constant communication in order to keep goals and expectations up to date to avoid conflicting members and perspectives. Unifying the team is always hard, but it is something crucial to being an effective marketing manager.

John Lincoln does a fantastic job compiling a list of the top SEO, Social Media and Analytic tools we have seen in a while.  Here are a list of some of the 80 that we use and can endorse:


SEO Tools:


1)  BuzzSumo - This tool is on everyone's list to find out what content is hot in your industry.  


2)  SEMrush - Use this tool to research your competitors and see what keywords and links they are ranking for.


3)  SerpBook - Great took for tracking your keywords on a daily basis


Social Media Tools:


1)  Pin Alerts - Simple tracking tool to see how many Pins you have received on your website (Free)


2)  Hootsuite - This is a common social media posting tool, but it also is good for analytics on your accounts.


3)  Tailwind -  This is a great tool for scheduling your Pinterest posts.  If you aren't using Pinterest you need to be for SEO and traffic.


There were many other tools that are great in the article.  Pick a couple to try out and see which ones you will ACTUALLY use.
