2013: How Content Will Be A Driving Factor In Search Rankings

2013: How Content Will Be A Driving Factor In Search Rankings | SEO and Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

"To say that Search Engine Optimization is a volatile industry would be a gross understatement. The ever-changing landscape of search rewards the most inquisitive, innovative and agile, while it punishes the devious and the stubborn. It seems that now, as 2012 comes to a close, the SEO industry is once again on the brink of a tidal shift that few are pivoting for.

While the aspects of technical SEO, specifically site architecture, will most likely never go away, many of the tactics that used to win at search simply don’t work anymore. At the same time, previously weaker or unproven tactics like social media and content marketing continue to grow in effectiveness while influencing SEO tactics.

The result is a new discipline: inbound marketing, which combines SEO, content marketing and social media.

One common thread amongst the three components of inbound marketing is content (which is different than content marketing):

1) Content Marketing: the pursuit of developing and distributing content that solves customer problems and generates leads.

2) SEO: the pursuit of getting your content to appear in the search results.

3) Social Media: a delivery system for your content".

Good Riddance To Social Search

Good Riddance To Social Search | SEO and Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

''The basic idea behind social search was that with all of the links and reviews we share on social media, search results could be made more relevant by including (and highlighting) that data right on the search results page. Because somebody you knew also shared (or liked, or +1’ed) a story, the theory was it was likely more interesting to you, too.

Sounds good in theory, but in reality, it just cluttered up your search results'.

Your social media and SEO teams may have misaligned goals: This is one of the more common problems.

This is often just a perception management problem.

I liked how this article discussed the issues that marketing teams face in the office. Aligning goals are always a difficult thing to coordinate between conflicting team members. Sourcing team members to align their perception is able to be done through effective incentives and team building activities. Discussing the issues and conflicts can generate both new perspectives and goals that can change and improve a campaign. It is desirable for managers to maintain constant communication in order to keep goals and expectations up to date to avoid conflicting members and perspectives. Unifying the team is always hard, but it is something crucial to being an effective marketing manager.

Keyword Monitoring: 5 Good Reasons to Monitor Your Google Rankings

Keyword Monitoring: 5 Good Reasons to Monitor Your Google Rankings | SEO and Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

Monitoring Google Rankings is a major part of successful and sustainable SEO. Engaging, high-quality content, attractive social media profiles, an efficient Marketing CRM – all these are important.

And yet, at the end of the day, they serve the purpose of boosting your Google Rankings and increase your visibility!

Keyword monitoring is the best method to track which online marketing strategies work, by measuring the successes of your link building, content marketing and Online PR.

In order to make SEO most effective, it is important to keep informed of your Google rankings and the current and long-lasting trends. That way, you can individually adjust your methods and not waste time on workflows and campaigns that do not bring in the desired results.

To that end, it makes sense to monitor your rankings and deduce the necessary steps. By knowing precisely which SEO methods improved your rankings within the last 7 days (or 30 days, 180 days, etc.) you can match the ranking success to the respective strategy and are able to react to ranking changes.
