Starting Monday August 6, 2012, all staff (and some doctoral students!) in the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at Deakin University are together undertaking a 12 week project in developing digital literacy. Each week we will be completing a task to develop a skill, explore an idea or master a set of tools.

Maybe this is something that you've always wanted to do? Have your iPad apps organized in alphabetical order. This would be a nightmare for me (a visual learner) as more often than not I don't necessarily know the name of the app but I know what the icon looks like (or the folder that I have put it into). I choose to organize my apps into folders eg ABC's, Word Work, Nurturing Thinking etc. Keep in mind though I use my device predominantly for 'modelling' and to inform others so I have hundreds (did I say hundreds.....my 64gb device is almost full AGAIN).
If though, you have individual devices assigned to your classroom that are not jam packed with too many Apps, this may be just the thing for you!

I must admit that I prefer to organise my apps under folders according to type, (though there are times that this system also 'lets me down'). This could be a useful strategy for user who have quite a few screens of apps.

I definitely understand - my 32 GB iPad is completely full. I have to keep deleting and reinstalling the apps that I do need to use.

The Professors Behind the MOOC Hype - Technology | Steve Kolowich- The Chronicle of Higher Education
What is it like to teach 10,000 or more students at once, and does it really work? The largest-ever survey of professors who have taught MOOCs, or massive open online courses, shows that the process is time-consuming, but, according to the instructors, often successful. Nearly half of the professors felt their online courses were as rigorous academically as the versions they taught in the classroom.
The survey, conducted by The Chronicle, attempted to reach every professor who has taught a MOOC. The online questionnaire was sent to 184 professors in late February, and 103 of them responded.

These are data from the people in the trenches. And although they are biased - typically those with good experiences react, those with bad ones reportedly didn't - they still show that there is a good deal of enthusiasm about teaching a MOOC and that many sceptics to online learning became converted. Motives reported ranged from altruism to not wanting to be left behind, but that was to be expected. For a quick impression of the results, check the charts.
Since many of the respondents still were in the midst of teaching their MOOC, we should see the present picture as a snap-shot only. But the good thing is that now we at least have such a snap-shot. The Chronicle is to be applauded for this initiative. (@pbsloep)

As teachers, when we assign a research project, we often focus on the end product: the research essay, presentation, etc. However, students (especially young students) do not automatically know how to conduct meaningful research. Our modern students are used to Googling answers. They have grown accustomed to information being readily available. However, as academics, we know that research isn’t a fast process. It’s slow and deliberate. As a teacher, I need to intentionally slow my students down during this exercise. I do this by breaking down a larger project into more manageable chunks and focusing on the process. Via Nik Peachey

Yes, which is what is meant by "plagiarism proof" assignments. I would also add that it is essential to practice paraphrasing and do it effectively by using all four skills.
