Learning a task in 30 days can be difficult, but with the rigth focus, mindset and diligence it is possible.  Obviously you won't be a master, since that takes 10,000 hours as Malcolm Gladwell explained.  But learning the basics and enough to get by -that can be done.  Great article showing how to get those basic skills in a timely fashion.

Finding meaning in video games: Yes, they have value beyond entertainment + self-improvement

Finding meaning in video games: Yes, they have value beyond entertainment + self-improvement | Self development ideas | Scoop.it

"New art forms are polarizing. We love or hate Damien Hirst’s formaldehyde animals or Tracey Emin’s unmade bed but roundly understand that avant garde art has value, the artist trying to challenge us and make us think something. Video games draw similar fire. Detractors hem and haw that they’re all about shooting guns and wasting time, and worry about the harm they may be doing that we haven’t identified yet. Supporters congregate into defensive groups, highlighting not only their entertainment and relaxation value, but touting that they have educational and self-improvement benefits too."

THE HEALING POWER OF COMPASSION

THE HEALING POWER OF COMPASSION | Self development ideas | Scoop.it

“To feel ‘compassion’ without anadequate practical result ensuing fromit is not to show oneself an ‘Altruist’but the reverse. Real self-developmenton the esoteric lines is action.” (Helena P. Blavatsky, in her article“What Shall We Do For Our Fellow-Men?”)   The healing power of compassion has been written about since ancient times. It is well known that compassion is an important part of any healing relationship. There are many excellent ways to define compassion. However, once compassion is regarded to be a skill that one can learn through training and put into action, then one can test, check and verify its power to benefit physical health, moral stamina, and relationships with others. by Steven H. Great Tips For Growing Through Self Improvement

The key to self improvement is growth as a person that increases your awareness and outreach. It focuses on improving knowledge and self-awareness, spiritual development and even through fulfilling your personal goals. This article offers ample advice for improving yourself and your life through personal development. It all starts with a single step on your way to a deeper self-understanding. Happiness is often lost to stress. Feeling stressed can influence your mood and your body. In order to reach your goals, the stress in your mind must be destroyed. Schedule time daily to spend by yourself in relaxation and clarity. This time of rejuvenation can help you feel better about yourself, and give you more peace at heart. In order to work on your personal development, you have to be willing to be humble. Understanding that you are a minute portion of the world will help you think about your level of knowledge. Once you have fully accepted this realization, you'll seek to better yourself by learning and understanding as much as you can about the vast world in which you live. You can't care for others if you're not caring for yourself. Be sure to rest, relax, and restore your own mind and body. It helps to see your good points in writing. List all of your good qualities on a postcard. Always keep it on you, and read it whenever you need a boost. You might even consider recording the mantra in your own voice, so that you can play it back at any time. What good would this do? You need to care for yourself before you can care for others. Wherever you are mentally and emotionally, always take time to relax and check in with your needs. It is impossible for you to properly care for the ones you love, unless you take care of yourself first. Take time for rest and relaxation, whether your health is good or poor. You have to keep track of your progress and be honest with yourself about whether you're moving forward, if your self improvement plan is to work. The above tips are just what you need to determine what you should do next. When you monitor your progress with any task, you will surely begin to notice improvement.
