"In downtown Cleveland there’s a statue to him on the public square and for good reason: he decided where the town square would someday be located. Moses was an energetic man with an ability to lead and be listened to. He was a member of the Connecticut Convention that ratified the first United States Constitution in 1788. Eight years later, representing the Connecticut Land Company, he set out to survey lands in the Ohio Territory which the company had purchased from the state of Connecticut. All totaled the $1,200,000 was spent for the purchase that would later become known as the Western Reserve."
