Technology Wars like any War always manages to cause civilians pain. In this case Apple vs Google has yu and me as collateral damage.

 

As the usage by Apple of a copyrighted clock face shows, let those without sticky fingers throw the first lawsuit.

 

It seems to me that if the first automobile manufacture tried to copyright curved fenders or round headlights, etc, etc the automobile industry would be a mess. So it is with copyrighting round corners and icons.

 

Can you imagine the first caveman creating the first wheel prototype and rushing out to copyright the first wooden round circle with a hole in it! We can't blame Apple or Google or Samsung. They are merely using the law on the books passed by our institutions. It's copyright everything or be sued.

 

It is long overdue that we as a reasonable global community create a culture where innovation can occur, rewards can be gained while also promoting and protecting the fair use of design and technology.

 

It's not the Corporations that are at fault. It's a lack of imagination of those of us responsible for upholding outdated and unreasonable laws.

A further example is in our tax laws. Mitt Romney isn't breaking any tax laws when he ships his millions overseas to pay less taxes. Mitt Romney is blameless. It is our tax laws with it's bias toward wealth that is at fault.

 

People say money buys elections but if the Koch Brothers spend Billions on a candidate that wethepeople would never elect then vote of wethepeople will always win. Billions of dollars spent on a candidates campaign and all that is need for that candidate to lose is one more vote for his opponent to be counted. Your vote counts.

 

It's the same with these copyright laws. It's time for wethepeople to demand better laws. The voice of the people can not be denied. Especially in a country like the USA where the powerful pretend the voice of the people matters. :)
