Are You a Leader or a Manager? Why Understanding the Difference is Important. - Entrepreneur

Are You a Leader or a Manager? Why Understanding the Difference is Important. - Entrepreneur | Secrets of Highly Successful People | Scoop.it
Entrepreneur
Are You a Leader or a Manager? Why Understanding the Difference is Important.
Christopher Sajnendra's insight:

While the leader’s job is understanding the big picture and getting people to buy into a larger #vision sometimes  a #leader can lose sight of the day-to-day processes that help the business run.

Similarly, #managers’ focus on daily tasks can distract them from the larger picture. If you are a manager then remember to step back from your to-do list and think about goals for the quarter or year.

A true leader can always #influence people to follow and is very capable at creating a positive change. A great manager on the other hand, while  focussing on maintaining systems and processes, is able to maintain direction but often struggles to change it.

Christopher Sajnendra's insight:

Love how Simon Sinek challenges Leaders to be like parents. To love, nurture and care for those that follow us.

One thing I have learnt in my own journey and in Leadership is that people don't really  care about what you care, unless and until you care enough about them.

That's how you lead and that's when your team will follow you.

Leadership my friends, is a "matter of the heart". Without your heart pumping out love, you are going to become a Leader who is "dead to everyone" including yourself!

Here is Why I Think Success Is Overrated!

Here is Why I Think Success Is Overrated! | Secrets of Highly Successful People | Scoop.it
Christopher Sajnendra's insight:

The more I  study highly successful people, the more I am convinced that this whole concept of being successful..... is overrated! I know you might find this shocking. What? Is this coming from someone who claims to be a Life and Success Coach?

But I am sharing my honest sentiments with you here, as you are part of my inner circle now.

In the crazy pursuit of the "ever elusive success", could it be that we are just running in a race, with no clue as to why we are even in it? Are we simply chasing dreams that society has seeded into our psyche rather than passionately pursuing our own burning ambitions?

Bill Gates, Microsoft co-founder and one of the richest men in the world was recently quoted as saying, “Don’t try to be a billionaire, it’s overrated”

You are probably  thinking, "Chris, its alright for one of the world’s richest man, Bill Gates to say that. He does not have a mortgage and loans to pay off like I do!”

You know, over the last 10 years, the dream for most young couples, evolved from the house in the suburbs, two kids and a dog, to becoming wealthier and owning two or three investment properties by the time they are forty?” I know for most of us, our children would be absolutely horrified, if we let them in on the secret that we have college  degrees that actually contribute very little to what we do everyday or how successful we really are. I wonder if they even know that Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are just escapes for their parents from the mundane pursuit of success.

Is the pursuit of "SUCCESS" robbing you of your joy?

If you want to truly realize a purpose driven and fulfilled life, you need to define what success means for you.

When we don’t define what success means for us, we get caught up in a marathon that is disastrous for  our peace, joy and contentment in life.

We may still be chasing after dreams, the only problem is, that they are really other people’s dreams!

We compete, we compare, we plot and we plan. We live in a time, when more than ever, with the help of social networking platforms etc,  we are constantly bombarded by news and amazing stories of success. We witness the awesome pictures of our friends on holiday at exotic locations, we see their fame and prosperity and we run the race "harder" and "faster" just to keep up and be in the game. Then all of a sudden, we wonder why we are feeling depressed and unhappy?

What is your definition of success?

Success means different things to different people and so should it to you. You need to define what it means for you. It needs to be absolutely crystal clear! Here is something else I have discovered that will help you in the process. It will help you define success and what success means uniquely for you.

I love dreams and I am all passionate about you chasing yours. Just be aware, what you are willing to sacrifice along the way. Ask yourself is this what I really want? You don’t want to get to such "lofty heights" that you lose sight of what really mattered  the most to you when you started.

From the top of any mountain the view is often, amazing. But the facts are that after every peak there is a valley. So if you define personal success by a mountaintop experience today, you are setting yourself up for disappointment tomorrow when you go down to the valley.

"Success was never meant to be the final destination in your life. Success was designed to become an integral part of each and every second that you and I live."

Why don't you take an hour out today to sit with a pen and a blank writing pad and write  down what SUCCESS means to you. Don't take this process and time lightly....it is very powerful and it could change your life!

Discovering what SUCCESS truly means to and for you, I assure you, has the potential to propel you further and faster!

“While there may be moments one needs to rally and push to the finish line, pushing and working extra hard should be the exception instead of the norm. What most of us don't know is that pushing isn't our only choice.”
