Erin Ryan's curator insight, September 6, 2015 6:50 AM

I have witnessed success when using technology in the classroom specifically with my students who have autism spectrum disorder. This article talks about the predictability and routine learning that are helpful to students with ASD. For the last three years my students have accessed their core curriculum on iPads thanks to meta note/ noteability type apps. Although I love a good book, technology can enhance instruction for some of our unique learners.

Erin Ryan's curator insight, October 24, 2015 7:25 PM

Maybe some day in my future, I will make it my plan to specifically research this idea of technology and special education. I have not yet found a ton of evidence to suggest that it  truly impacts the success of my students and their achievement. They enjoy it, it saves on paper, and it is pretty engaging (because let's fact it ,students these days love technology!) but I have t to feel like "holy cow! if I didn't have this, I could not teach this lesson." So for now my goal is to supplement good instruction with technology.
