Just a Dream was written by Chris Van Allsburg years ago, but it's still a favorite of teachers today. The story is perfect for Earth Day because the main character, Walter, dreams of the future and learns that if we don't take care of our planet, the future is rather grim indeed. Laura Candler has developed a free packet of materials to go with the book, and these teaching resources are great for introducing students to environmental issues. Even if you discover these resources after Earth Day is over, the lessons can be used for literacy and science any time of the year.
