Today, leading social search and analytics site, Topsy, is gaining some (free) major upgrades that will make marketers giddy. Topsy will now be offering access to exact statistics around any search term/phrase including sentiment analysis. Previously, this data was listed on Topsy for “significant Tweets” only, but moving forward, users will be able to view data on any query under the sun.
This technology was showcased last Fall with the partnership between Twitter and Topsy on “The Twitter Political Index.” The index showcased sentiment analysis over specific periods of time, something that the new Topsy functionality will include. Users will be able to see the specific number of Tweets on a topic as well as the overall sentiment (based on a score of 100).
