Atlantic Bluefin Tuna Research Grants – Commercial Fishing

In June, NOAA Fisheries announced a federal funding opportunity for Atlantic bluefin tuna research. The Bluefin Tuna Research Program (BTRP) is a competitive Federal assistance program that funds projects seeking to increase and improve the working relationship between fisheries researchers from NMFS, state fishery agencies, universities, other research institutions and U.S. fishery interests (recreational and commercial) focusing on Atlantic bluefin tuna.

On December 8, 2016, NOAA Fisheries announced a comprehensive Seafood Import Monitoring Program to further curb Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing practices and to identify misrepresented seafood imports before they enter the U.S. market.
