(MT)^2 Presentation: Whatever you do with technology, make sure it fits into your educational philosophy. In other words: determine your philosophy first, then find the tools to make it happen. The first half was about the successes and difficulties I’ve had teaching in a reverse class setting. I demonstrated how easy it is to create a screencast using screencast-o-matic, and shared how much my students have liked them. We had a very good discussion on how students of different abilities might respond to a reverse classroom. Downloadable PDF of presentation slides.

Screencasts have definitely evolved over the years and have many uses for people. One thing that I have always found is that good screencasting software can be very expensive. I set out on my quest to find a good screencasting app that wasn’t going to hurt my wallet and at the same time offer some great features. I think I may have found what I have been looking for in Screenr, a web app that records your screen and so much more.

I tried four different screencasting software programs before I found one that works for me: Screencast-O-Matic. The free version worked great – easy to use, clear images! I was so enthused that I immediately invested in the Pro version, which includes editing tools and other benefits for a mere $12 a year.
