The Transmedia Secret of Secret Cinema

The Transmedia Secret of Secret Cinema | screen seriality | Scoop.it
This past November, I made the trip for the second year in a row to the Mozilla Festival in London, a three day technology binge fest that brings together some of the world's top thinkers to consider and shape the future of the web.
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

The art of transmedia storytelling can transform a traditional story told by a traditional medium in a totally different experience. In this case you don't need a lot of money to produce it you just need creativity.

How to tackle fragmentation and the second screen - iMediaConnection.com

How to tackle fragmentation and the second screen - iMediaConnection.com | screen seriality | Scoop.it
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

John Douglas tries to embrace the framentation of the social tv market even if he still declares that casual viewer will maybe go on engaging on popular social networks.

I think that fragmentation can be sustainable when apps is very compelling (Superbowl, Oscars, Grammys, X-Factor, American Idol) but the viewer needs now not to waste time. It is like at the beginning of internet the experts taught us that in a good website you need as less clicks as possible to let users get what they want.

Viewers Are Flocking to Streaming Video Content — And So Are Advertisers | Underwire | Wired.com | screen seriality | Scoop.it
The Internet has been seen as a disruptor to the traditional TV industry, but a new report suggests that it's also where the industry's biggest growth lies.
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

I remember when some years ago I was talking to a media planner about a billboard strategy and he told me "we always put a billboard of the ad campaign close to company Ceo house (the investor) because in this way he is convinced that everybody sees the campaign".

I think that we are finally going to a one-to-one advertising and video contents online are a extraordinary medium for advertising, but the first step to take is to make ad investors to understand that an ad to a small targeted audience is better than a 30" commercial for million of people.

Multiple Video Feeds Give Arena Fans the Comforts of Home

Multiple Video Feeds Give Arena Fans the Comforts of Home | screen seriality | Scoop.it
At some sports arenas, fans can now receive multiple video feeds of the action on their smartphones. But what does that do to the communal enjoyment of a live event?
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

With social networks and apps sports live events are a total new experience.

Think about Formula 1 and the new chance for the viewer to watch the whole race in the car of Fernando Alonso or maybe beiing at the pitstop waiting for Vettel. Then you can see Twitter timeline to read comments about last Hamilton lap.

The same can be done for football, basket, baseball.

Sports is getting the bigger value from new television technology.

The only thing missing will be the classic "I was there".

Story + Engagement + Interaction = User Experience

Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

The author explains that in a transmedia project we have to focus on the creation process.

"The critical question is not whether a transmedia story will deliver a user experience, but rather, how a specific user experience can be created. The decisions a transmedia author makes in three key areas will determine the kind of experience the user will have:

Story design, which focuses on the design of the storyworld and story elements such as characters, settings, events, and plot.Audience engagement design, which focuses on the design of those aspects of the transmedia story involving the audience’s intellectual and emotional participation in the story.User interaction design, which focuses on how users mentally and physically interact with the story’s interface when navigating through the narrative."

This article explain what is a transmedia project.
Luca Brigada's curator insight, March 16, 2013 11:40 AM

The trick is to start with the audience and really design an experience for them. The call for creating interactive storytelling experiences is loud and clear: start with the audience…give your audience a compelling experience, one that makes them want to go deeper. (Miriam Simun, “The Current State of Interactive Documentary”)

Facebook, Twitter, Television, and the Second Screen

Buffer Like many of you, I watched the Oscars Sunday night with laptop and iPad wide open for a vast majority of the event.  Why watch it by yourself when you can watch it with so many “friends”, right?
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

"Why Twitter works better than Facebook for social tv:

Edgerank — News Feed real estate is and remains to be cherished by Facebook Users.Shelf life of a Tweet vs. Facebook Status Update — Tweets come & go during live events. Wait a second, and your screen is replaced with another dozen tweets or more depending on how many people you follow.Virality — Say something clever on Twitter, and millions of people might be exposed to it.  That isn’t really possible on Facebook.Discoverability — Social chatter takes place on Facebook, but is happening on Users’ Profiles, Pages, and to a lesser extent in Groups. Twitter’s simplicity makes the chatter there appear to be more “alive”.Decorum — Facebook has emerged as the place for being careful about what you share. It has become our lifestream, a record of our lives.  Twitter on the other hand is the record of our reactions. Twitter is where you let loose."
