It’s Time To Change Television As We Know It And Here’s Why

It’s Time To Change Television As We Know It And Here’s Why | screen seriality | Scoop.it

Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

"Ultimately, quality matters more than anything. The 22-episode Scandal seasons are faring just fine and Lost somehow told a story with a beginning, middle and end (regardless of how you may have felt about that end) over 121 episodes but it’s time that every TV writer gets the opportunity to tell a story without burning themselves out."

Netflix finds plenty of binge watching, but little guilt | screen seriality | Scoop.it
Netflix, as it seeks to sell more subscriptions during the holidays, is embracing the art of the "binge."
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

"

"Binge watching is not reckless or indulgent," McCracken said in an email. "It's a smart and an even contemplative way to watch certain kinds of TV. Good TV especially."

A Wave Of Tech Industry Deals Is Streamlining The World Of Social TV

A Wave Of Tech Industry Deals Is Streamlining The World Of Social TV | screen seriality | Scoop.it
Social TV is only getting more popular, but there are too many apps competing for social TV conversations and consolidation is helping to clean up the space.
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

"In a recent report on social TV apps from BI Intelligence, we find that second screen apps fall into the same trap Foursquare waded into with location-based services. Social TV has the same problem. "
