INFOGRAPHIC: Super Bowl TV Ads Get The Glory, But Is Facebook A Better Buy? - AllFacebook | screen seriality | Scoop.it
It sometimes seems as if Super Bowl ads draw more attention than the big game itself, but Ampush, a Facebook Strategic Preferred Marketing Developer, shared some statistics which show that advertising on the social network may actually be more beneficial to brands than shelling out some $4 million for 30-second spots during the telecast.
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

Television commercials vs facebook advertising: when advertisers budget will really move from offline to online?

Why Advertisers Need To Treat All Media Buys As If They're The Super Bowl

Why Advertisers Need To Treat All Media Buys As If They're The Super Bowl | screen seriality | Scoop.it
This article is by Sean Cunningham, CEO of the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau. Neither the Denver Broncos nor the Seattle Seahawks will win a championship because of The Big Game on February 2.
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

"Consumers are operating in an all-screen reality, and TV networks are building the advertising infrastructure to match.  Now marketers need to organize to take fullest advantage of it. When they integrate around the on-screen content they invest the most in – consciously, systematically and routinely – they will create powerful pivot points in the digital diaspora. The real transformation evident in the Super Bowl is using the extended preoccupation to cement relationships with consumers that will pay out long-term. In this way, the Super Bowl is the showcase of what marketing should be –and can be – year-round."

Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

"On February 2nd, the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos will face off for Super Bowl XLVIII. The Big Game is a huge day for advertisers, with nearly 110 million TV viewers and the average 30-second commercial running a whopping $4 million. However, if you’re like most businesses, you simply don’t have that kind of money in the bank to capture the attention of this captive audience. Enter the magic of mobile."

Second Screen: Home vs Stadiums

Second Screen: Home vs Stadiums | screen seriality | Scoop.it
In an age where financial capital is stretched between so many different resources, how important is it for clubs to make sure stadiums are fully digitally enabled? and even if they were, do fans p...
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

"The NFL has taken this view and has been experimenting with on-demand video replays and order-from-your-seat snack and beer service, controlled by apps on a smartphone or tablet. This enhances match-day experiences and makes the fan feel they are getting ‘more for their money’, particularly younger fans who may be used to extensive digital content. Fundamentally, younger fans are the future of the clubs, and if this core begins to feel that they can engage more from the comfort of their own homes, revenues will slide."

In sports second screen is the real star.  It can engage viewers at home and at the stadium in different ways. Again sports may be a real driver to make people get used to something that is going to stay.

TV social network GetGlue is rebranding to tvtag and will get a major update next week

TV social network GetGlue is rebranding to tvtag and will get a major update next week | screen seriality | Scoop.it
GetGlue is rebranding next week to tvtag as part of an acquisition by i.TV completed in November 2013. Writing in an email to customers that was sent out today, the company says that ...
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

Why rebranding when your awareness is strong?

GetGlue next week is rebranding to TvTag after being acquired some months ago by i.Tv. The reasons of the rebranding may be due to the need of showing a new and improved service. GetGlue awareness is strong among tv watchers but in the last year GetGlue lost its shine missing the chance to become a major player in social tv battle. i.TV will probably launch something new (a major update of the app is expected for next week) more appealing to users that were not enthusiasts anymore about just stickers.

A new app lets you watch any TV in the world, including the Olympics (TV Everywhere indeed.
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

Everytime that Netflix wants to "conquer" a new nation he needs to make deals with rights owner for that specific place. And it's not often an easy deal. That's why for example Netflix it's not landed in Italy yet. In the same way people living in Italy can't watch Netflix US contents because Netflix US blocks every IP that it's not from United States.

Hola, a free Virtual Private Network, it's breaking this rules because allows people to watch tons of contents for free (usually to use VPN services you need to  pay).

From one side it is an illegal service but from the other it shows that traditional rules (in this case we refer to rights managed by the owner in a different way for every single nation) don't work anymore.

The problem is not easy to be solved but in the next few years rights management is going to disrupt (For example Netflix shall manage rights in a global way).

Living with the Second Screen

Living with the Second Screen | screen seriality | Scoop.it
The Wii U GamePad has changed the way I think about console games, but not in the way I expected.
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

This post tells a story. A story about attention. The great thing about it is that underlines the power of second screen in a certain situation. We cannot imagine or dream that a great second screen content can work if we pay attention at the same time to a different one. There must be always the right time and the right equilibrium between first and second screen. it's quite a lesson.
