Six ways social media is changing the nature of TV forever | screen seriality | Scoop.it
Social media is radically challenging the landscape of TV.
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

Users and viewers. People today  live in a social way, influencing everything from news to television. It's the world of "now", and for this reason it is rising the demand for tv live events. Live events like sports, talent shows, awards are the ones with more followers... or better, watchers.

Kevin Spacey Says Digital Platforms Are Killing the TV Pilot—and That's a ... - Adweek | screen seriality | Scoop.it
Academy Award-winning actor Kevin Spacey made headlines when he agreed to star in the Netflix original series House of Cards—and then made even more headlines when the critically acclaimed show began winning Emmys and Golden Globes.
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

Spacey strongly believes the future of television is online. "I think it's exciting the way these platforms are finding out how to create an audience of their own without a network, without a studio, without a publisher. There is no barrier to entry. It's an incredibly exciting time. I wish it had been around when I was starting," Spacey said.

Twitter Chats and TV Stars Just Don’t Mix

Twitter Chats and TV Stars Just Don’t Mix | screen seriality | Scoop.it
Twitter chats are the bane of my existence and if you’re trying to market a television show, they should be yours, too. They are messy, hard to follow, and usually not that interesting at best.
Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

Social tv must be spontaneous, a natural flow. If there is something that does not follow this rule social tv is not social tv anymore. Advertising and promo if they are out of context can provoke several damages.

Mattia Nicoletti's insight:

"It's ironic, then, that Sweeney herself, who is stepping down to pursue a career as a TV director, appears to be following the advice of Sohu.com's Zhang. In his keynote to industry execs at MIPCOM, the Chinese Internet entrepreneur said that instead of trying to compete with online video companies, broadcasters should “jump to the right side of history” by quitting their jobs and making content themselves."
