“Scottish News, News Scotland - Politics, Referendum, Economy, Culture and intelligent opinion | Newsnet Scotland, uniquely Scottish (#BBC reporter claims England subsidises the rest of the UK http://t.co/zcPNiuybvm...”;
Alasdair Buchanan's insight:
There are Statistics Statistics and Damned Lies . England in no way and by no known measure in any way subsidises Scotland . This continued assertion Is incorrect . Public spending per head in Scotland revealed

Public spending per head in Scotland revealed | Scotland Independence | Scoop.it
“Scotland enjoys the second highest levels of public spending in the UK, the latest official figures have shown.”
Alasdair Buchanan's insight:
The debate rages on . It seems inconceivable that GERS figures cannot be taken as fact and that Westminster Government , through their financial guru Danny Alexander , is presenting figures which the Scotland Government dismiss as being , at best , misleading . Can't remember Danny Alexander's financial background before his elevation to the Treasury . Can anyone? Ab22/11

The FIF

The FIF | Scotland Independence | Scoop.it
“I doubt if anybody votes according to policy. I mean the reason you support a party is because the policies it pursues are attractive or at least don’t alienate you but do you really vote for that ...”
Alasdair Buchanan's insight:
The F it Factor is ingrained in the Scottish psyche . Just look at our historic mass migration to the English speaking colonies in search of a better life and our above average propensity of filling the ranks of the British Army . Most of these actions were not based on carefully thought out reasoning but out of necessity , poverty and the lack of any other meaningful alternative . So the decision was based on the F It Factor .
