The scoop on Scoop.It

"An explosion of new curation tools, designed to compile content easily online, might have your head spinning.
If you’re like me, you’ve probably signed up to try out the beta test on a number of these tools. Storyful.com, Checkthis.com, Flockler and StoryCrawler.com are just a few of the ones I have heard of since I posted this Slideshare on 20 tools for content curation. Some of the tools are fantastic. Some are a waste of time. Some have even emerged out of beta testing like Storify to become a big hit with the social networking crowd and journalists alike.
But today I’m going to tell you to sign up for Scoop.It."

The Scoop on Scoop.it, a Powerful Curation Platform

The Scoop on Scoop.it, a Powerful Curation Platform | Scoop.it on the Web | Scoop.it

"For the past month and a half, I’ve been a beta user of Scoop.it, a free curation platform that allows account holders to create a personal website of Internet content devoted to a specific topic. As the video tutorial at the end of this post suggests, Scoop.it is an alternative to full on blogging, which requires time, skills and expertise. The platform is also different from news aggregation sites because of an editorial layer that allows curators to include comments, quotes, pictures and videos with article postings. The end result is a newspaper-like layout that is easy to read, navigate, and share to Twitter and Facebook."

Scoop.it: topic-centric and a new collaborative dimension to curation

Scoop.it: topic-centric and a new collaborative dimension to curation | Scoop.it on the Web | Scoop.it

Curation has been a hot topic for at least a year, and I agree with Tom Foremski, that it’s not just a trend, or as he puts it in a recent post, “a flash in the pan.” We all need to make sense of the mass of information that comes to us, and present it in a format that is easy to consume and communicate. In the end, digital curators are not fundamentally different from traditional curators.

Your eyeballs mean a lot to us, although I am sure they mean more to you in your head. Content curation tools are a hot and spicy topic right now.
