Now that we have access to powerful mind-amplifying devices and self-evolving collective intelligence networks, we can benefit ourselves and improve the commons by learning how knowledge technologies work and how to work them:

Modules on Roots & Visions of Augmentation and The Extended Mind establish a conceptual-theoretical-empirical basis for understanding and discussing both the origin and future of tools specifically devised to magnify thinking capabilities and group problem-solving capacity.Modules on Social Bookmarking, Concept Mapping, and Personal Knowledge Management introduce practical tools and practices for finding, storing, refining, sharing, exploring knowledge.Learning activities include group bookmarking as focused collective intelligence, concept map-making for understanding systems, construction of knowledge-plexes with Personal Brain.

Why Kids Must Be Taught Digital Manners Infographic

Why Kids Must Be Taught Digital Manners Infographic | Science of sport | Scoop.it

Teaching students the importance of having and using manners is nothing new to teachers. However, what has changed is the type of etiquette kids needs today—namely, the digital kind. True, please, thank you and excuse me are still significant, but in addition to these basics, students growing up in this ever-connected, social media crazed world require much more. Concepts such as online privacy, sharing and creating a positive digital footprint through the demonstration of responsible online behaviors are just as vital.

Let’s be honest, we don’t like to read big pieces of text. Text-heavy graphs are rather difficult for understanding, especially when dealing with numbers and statistics. That is why illustrations and flowcharts are often used for such kind of information.

An infographic, or a visual representation of study or data, like anything else, can be done right or wrong. How to create a successful infographic? A good idea and a good design.

Many good ideas can be found here regarding what we need to teach students about curating digital content for learning.  The importance of story - and to really look at something (or read it!).  The importance of asking quesitons and seeking answers before adding it to your curated collection to determine if it is a good fit. There are many parallels to the world of digital curation.

Augmented reality allows someone to add another layer to an existing image.  For example, imagine holding your phone over a poster on the wall as if you were going to take a photo of that poster, and then instantly a video starts playing to offer you additional information about that particular poster.  Pretty cool, right?  The first time it happens, it seems like magic.

What does it take to be productive? It’s a question I often ask myself and to be honest I don’t have a great answer for it yet. One key discovery I’ve made over the past year or so is that I need to have great habits in place.

That’s why I’m working on a solid running routine and on a set wake-up time and sleep time. These things have been incredibly helpful for me and I know both Joel and Leo have discovered the same.

One other realization I had is that, as I now spend so much of my day working online, there are a heap of new apps being created all the time to help us all become more productive.

That’s why I thought of compiling a full list of 100 tools, tips and tricks for you to reflect a bit on your own productivity.

Of course, a sure fire way to fail might be to try and use all 100, which Joel pointed out to me when we discussed this post! So hopefully this can be a useful resource for you to dip in and out of, whenever you feel your productivity is in a slump.
