What About Homework? by Jane Bluestein, Ph.D.

What About Homework? by Jane Bluestein, Ph.D. | Schools Should Abolish Homework | Scoop.it

So where do we draw the line? I think there is a way to find some balance in all this. I hate to see districts use homework in a reactive or punitive way and I certainly believe that the issue deserves continued study and discussion, and a greater mindfulness about how and what we ask our students to do after they’ve left our classrooms.

Homework are given by teachers for students to do so that the students can continue learning outside the classroom however students would have all their time doing their homework resulting in the fact that students do not have the time to communicate with their family members. Therefore, schools should abolish homework.

Research shows that if students were given too much homework , students could not due with it thus it is bad for them. Therefore, homework should be abolished.

I think this is a good article because it gives different points of view.  Also it gives quotes and examples which are very convincing.  In addition it gives solutions about homework.  I thought it was an easy and helpful article for whatever student that is writing about homework cons.

What About the Studies?

A recent survey shows that formal daily home study with parents does result in significantly higher school performance. Of course, a recent

big study, touted in Newsweek, showed the opposite, at least among elementary-school students. Studies are analogous to standardized tests: They measure one set of criteria, but what about all they leave out?

Will a student enjoy when he or she do her homework? Most students will say no. When the student is given a homework to do, they usually will not learn a lot as they would be thinking of playing outside with their friends or some other things that distracts the mindset. Thus schools should abolish homework.

This article is neutral, has statistics (and is supposed to go beyond what they tell) and has various points of view, witch correct grammar and spelling.

This article meets the requirements of a good article. This article has common sense because it uses real life examples. This article also has  good grammar in it. This article focuses on why homework should be removed using a debate format for the explanation.

Is Your Child's Homework Worth Doing? by Moorman and Haller

Is Your Child's Homework Worth Doing? by Moorman and Haller | Schools Should Abolish Homework | Scoop.it

The drive to assign more and more homework to children at younger ages is in full force in some schools. The homework binge threatens to cut into prime family time, extra-curricular activities, and rest and relaxation. It also increases conflict over scheduling and completing the ever-increasing number of assignments.

Homework causes students having less time with their family to rest or relax thus schools should abolish homework.
