5 Ways To Pin Like A Boss On Pinterest | Fast Company

5 Ways To Pin Like A Boss On Pinterest | Fast Company | School Social Worker | Scoop.it

A decade into the social media revolution, fatigue has set in. There are lots of ways to interact, but there are still only 24 hours in a day. What social media network is still worth your time?

For a growing number of brands, Pinterest is making the cut. According to Cincinnati-based marketing company Ahalogy, some 22% of Americans are now monthly visitors to the site, where people pin and share pictures and articles like you might pin magazine clippings on a bulletin board. While men are starting to join, the vast majority of Pinterest users are women, and they are generally younger women. If you’re marketing fishing equipment to retired gentlemen, then this is not your medium.

But if you’re trying to reach Pinterest’s core users of millennial moms, here’s how to stand out....

Using formative tools for better project results

Using formative tools for better project results | School Social Worker | Scoop.it
In a high-school art room, I watched a student working at an easel. When I asked about her progress, she explained that she was attempting to paint sunflow
Steve Whitmore's insight:

in school social work, we use formative assessment all of the time. When we interview... when we watch kids informally... when we get antidotal stories from teachers...  This is very valid assessment. The question that I struggle with is "How do you capture the results from (an interaction) in some kind of quantifiable way?"  Do we need to?

Perhaps this is why Michigan IEP's do allow for  narrative progress reports?  Do we still need charts and graphs?

Free Technology for Teachers: Good Chrome Extensions for Students with Disabilities

Free Technology for Teachers: Good Chrome Extensions for Students with Disabilities | School Social Worker | Scoop.it
Good Chrome Extensions for Students with Disabilities This week I am giving some guest bloggers the opportunity to share their experiences with you. This is a guest post from Clint Winter.

I am lucky because I get to be an Instructional Technologist in the Clarke County School District in Athens, Georgia. Our school district is a 1:1 district in grades 3 to 8. Also, we are a Google Apps for Education District. Our teachers are using electronic devices in order to better differentiate for our students. I have been working with our district Assistive Technology Team to help identify useful chrome extensions for our students with disabilities. We like chrome extensions because our students can sign into their chrome browser and take their extensions with them! Our team decided to focus on the areas of organization and accessibility when finding extensions for our students with disabilities.

How are you using Google in your practice for your students?

Children With Special Needs Fund

Children With Special Needs Fund | School Social Worker | Scoop.it
Steve Whitmore's insight:

The CSN Fund supports families that have children with special health care needs by providing  full or partial funding for certain equipment that help to improve the child’s quality of life. The CSN Fund was created 69 years ago with a bequest from Dr. James T. Pardee, co-founder of Dow Chemical. Since then thousands of families have received financial assistance to purchase equipment they need for their children when no other help was available. The CSN Fund is funded by solely donations. There are no tax dollars involved.
