"This paper examines in detail Sharon Coatney’s The Many Faces of School Library Leadership (2010) through the perspective of three influential topics: advocacy leadership, literacy promotion, and the changing definition of literacy. Reflections are made throughout on current practice in the secondary school library and questions for further study are suggested." Good reading!!

School Librarians’ Leadership in Technology Integration: Results of a National Survey

School Librarians’ Leadership in Technology Integration: Results of a National Survey | School libraries for information literacy and learning! | Scoop.it

This current grant project includes a survey of the technology integration practices of school librarians with National Board Certification. Survey results revealed that the 295 respondents work in well-resourced libraries with personnel assistance as well as numerous computers and devices. Respondents reported that they led school technology integration in many areas but also had areas in which to improve, such as providing services to special needs learners, building digital collections, participating in student assessment, and transferring their leadership success to professional and local communities.

My role as the Teacher Librarian offered me the understanding and initiatives through the wide range of external TL PD and the opportunities in the job itself, to become the school's Learning Technologies Coordinator.I enjoyed this position for 5 years while the school staff went through a huge ICT learning curve! I retired in 2011 and subsequently was offered a part time professional position at another school training and inservicing staff to integrate learning technologies into their programs at the secondary school level.
