Call for Papers for School Libraries Worldwide - the only peer reviewed journal on school librarianship

Call for Papers for School Libraries Worldwide - the only peer reviewed journal on school librarianship | School Libraries around the world | Scoop.it

International Perspectives on School Library Education: From Face to
Face to Distance Education (Volume 18, Number 2, July 2012)

This issue of School Libraries Worldwide will center on the theme
of International Perspectives on School Library Education: From Face to
Face to Distance Education. In the ten years since the last SLW issue
on school library education (see volume 6, number 2), much has happened to the profession of school librarianship and the way in which education programs are delivered. For this issue, we encourage papers that explore how changes in the profession as well as in education delivery systems have influenced school library education programs.

School Libraries Worldwide also welcomes submissions of excellent research on any topic relating to school librarianship for the open portion of the journal.

Deadline for submissions of full papers: April 15, 2012.

Authors interested in contributing to this issue should contact the guest editors, Allison G. Kaplan at agkaplan@wisc.edu
or Gail Dickinson at GDickins@odu.edu

Please see IASL web site for complete information about submitting a paper for this
issue: http://www.iasl-online.org/pubs/slw/slw_call.html

Doug Johnson's Take On Libraries & Tech

Here's a long list of "Laws" that will have you smiling and nodding in recognition! ~ Dennis

---------------------------

As far as I can tell, cynicism, pessimism, or hypocrisy have never served any teacher or student well. But a little clear-eyed honesty well-stated certainly can.

Harry Truman said it best: “I don’t give them hell; I just tell them the truth and they think it’s hell.”

Well, it’s not really my intention to give anyone hell, but here are a few “truths” that may seem a bit curmudgeonly. I believe these are my own, but if anyone recognizes the same sentiment stated in a similar fashion by someone else, I’d like to know about it.

I am sure that the genome project will soon discover a curmudgeon gene, but having worked in libraries and with technology for over 30 years, I believe I have earned my right to be a bit cranky without the benefit of genetic predisposition.

Agree or disagree. Add to the list if you’d like using the comment section below. Share your law!

Título:Bibliotecas Escolares de Galicia, espacios ALFIN poco a poco. Autores: Cristina Novoa, Docente.

School Libraries Grapple with Surge in Ereaders — The Digital Shift

School Libraries Grapple with Surge in Ereaders — The Digital Shift | School Libraries around the world | Scoop.it

The number of adults who own a tablet computer or ebook reader surged from 10 percent to 19 percent between mid-December 211 and early January 2012, according to a study from the Pew Internet & American Life Project. Likewise, school librarians have observed that more students had acquired digital reading devices over the winter break, too—providing an opportunity for lessons on ebook borrowing, not to mention piracy.
