SUMMER SCHOOL IN USER STUDIES

Zadar, Croatia, 11-14 April 2012

The main goal of this Summer School is to acquaint participants with the most recent
research, developments and newly emerged concepts in the fields of users’
information behaviour, learning and education in the digital age, information
literacy theories and concepts, and reading paradigms.

The programme is organised around three sub-themes: Users’ information behaviour, Literacy and reading in the digital environment, and Learning and education in the digital age. It targets Croatian and international Ph.D. students studying theories and studies of information needs and use, information literacy and reading, and
learning concepts and strategies in the digital environment. The students will
actively participate in the Ph.D. Student seminars and discussions after the
lectures. They will choose a topic of interest from the lectures presented during the morning sessions and discuss it further with the lecturer during the afternoon group work sessions and informal meetings.

 

Many distinguished professors will give lectures and work with students/participants
in group work sessions, including Carol Kuhlthau and Ross Todd (Rutgers
University, USA), Sanda Erdelez (University of Missouri, USA), Virginia Walter
(UCLA, USA), Paul Sturges (Loughborough University, UK) and others (see the programme at: http://ozk.unizd.hr/ssus/?page_id=27

Ph.D. students and all other participants interested in these topics are welcome to
register.
