Great Google Search Strategies Every Student Can Use - Infographic | School Libraries and more | Scoop.it

"A couple of years ago I published 10 Google Search Tips All Students Can Use. In that post I included a small PDF to distribute to students. The folks at Canva.com took a look at the post and turned it into a slick infographic for me. You can view the infographic below. Click here to download it from Box.com where I have it hosted."

Canva was kind enough to take a great pdf file that Richard Bryne created on 10 Google Search Tips All Students Can Use and create an infographic. Since we know visuals are important to many learners, take the time to check this out and to share it with your students. Also remember that many search techniques that work with Google also work with other search engines.

The Scary Truth About What Technology Is Really Doing To Kids

The Scary Truth About What Technology Is Really Doing To Kids | School Libraries and more | Scoop.it

"If it seems like your kids are constantly plugged in, tapping away on their iPhones, obsessively gaming and SnapChatting way more than they're actually ... chat-chatting -- well, that's because they are. It's estimated that children ages 8 to 18 spend an average of seven hours a day behind screens; teens send an average of 3,417 text messages each month; and 97 percent of adolescents have at least one electronic device in their bedrooms."

Common Sense Media has just published an infographic and a report that looks at how children ages 8 and under are using media. They did a similar report two years ago so you will see some major shifts in how current technology is being used.

Areas covered in the infographic include:

* Access to mobile technology

* Tech savvy toddlers

* Screen time

* What kid's are doing with mobile devices

* Television time

* Digital Divide

and more. There continues to be debate over how much screen time is appropriate for young ones. This infographic may provide some information that surprises you. To access the summary or the full report, "Zero to Eight: Children's Media Use in America 2013"

Good, clear infographic comparing different learning theories alongside connectivism. Interesting to consider, whether you appreciate the theory or not.

This is a great infographic for showing the thought process of finding information.

A pretty well-reasoned, fundamental thought process for most knowledge work research.  This serves as an even better backward (there-to-here) model to guide the core research workflow process automation  a knowledge worker may want to devise, install.  Think work product-informed -> DevonThink structures -> DevonAgent w/'Active Filtered' automated searches.  The most important drivers here are - 'ethical' - (more than just multiple sources, a stage needs to be added at the work product stage to provide authenticity) and - 'bias' -  (a post automated search,  subsequent manual search for corroborating items selection to provide authority).
