Nancy Farese was recently in New Orleans shooting for Edible Schoolyard New Orleans (www.esynola.org), which aims to change the way kids eat, learn and live at four FirstLine public charter schools in New Orleans. The program integrates hands-on organic gardening and seasonal cooking into the school learning experience and was founded 5 years ago as a chapter of the program created by Chef and Food Activist Alice Waters in Berkeley, CA in 1995. ESY NOLA is funded in part by Marin-based Milagro Foundation, which works routinely with PhotoPhilanthropy to get photographers into their programs.
