NYC - what a refreshing idea to allow doctors to actually prescribe fresh fruit and veggies as treatment for obesity, Welcome to the 21st century. And of course "our good friends at the FDA" regard veggies as 'unapproved drugs'. Is there a disconnect here? Wouldn't it be refreshing for the FDA to finally wake up and realize that the American public is its main priority, not the drug companies. Oh well, we can dream can't we?

Kudos to NYC and its new program which prescribes Health Bucks to families who can then redeem them for fresh produce at NYC's farmer's markets (140 of them). Families are behind this program because its working and people are losing weight and feeling better.

Read the article for more information on the SNAP program from the USDA.
