Careers With a Major in Sociology

Careers With a Major in Sociology | Education and Career Search | Scoop.it

Sociology involves the study of society, especially its overall structure and how it functions in terms of human interaction and behavior. With a degree in sociology, you can work as a political scientist, writer or researcher.

My thoughts:

Majoring in Sociology, there are many possibilities of jobs that I could get. I could become a political scientist, researcher, or be involved in human resources or public relations. I like the idea of human resources or public relations because with public relations I can work with people and make a connection with the general public, and with human resources I can oversee various departments or as a recruiter for a company. These two types of jobs have me interested and wanting to look more into them.

My thoughts:

After reading this article, I learned that I need to talk to my advisor about what classes I am interested in and my advisor will be able to inform me on some classes that I may have no even thought about considering. I also need to make sure my schedule has balance and that I shouldn't over book myself with to many classes. Then there is my learning style, I should decide the time of my classes by if I am a morning person or a person who is more awake in the afternoon. Finally, I need to consider my other activities, like a job that would take up some of my time and so I need to schedule around it.
