What Does Critical Thinking Mean in Education ?

What Does Critical Thinking Mean in Education ? | Scholarship PE NZ 2013 | Scoop.it

Critical thinking is an important skill in the  21st century learning. Education's overall goal is to produce students that will be able to think critically and not just take in things like a parrot. Of course there is a bunch of other important skills out there but this particular one stands out from the crowd. The thing about ttis skill is that while almost all  teachers agree upon its priority in education only few really know what it really means

AlGonzalezinfo's curator insight, August 14, 2013 3:21 PM

This is a fantastic resource.

From the article:

Burns, the Grand Father of transformation leadership, defines it as a “Process of engaging with others in such a way as to raise leader and follower to higher levels of motivation and morality.” He contrasts this to,

“A false conception of leadership as mere command and control.

As leadership comes properly to be seen as a process of leaders engaging and mobilizing human needs and aspirations of followers, women will be more readily recognized as leaders and men will change their own leadership styles.”

Rob Hatfield, M.Ed.'s curator insight, August 14, 2013 9:15 PM

Any leadership style has situational problems that have to be balance or more fluid with application and implementation.

Legalise doping or lose the spectacle of sport - ETHICS IN SPORT/HUMAN PERFORMANCE

Legalise doping or lose the spectacle of sport - ETHICS IN SPORT/HUMAN PERFORMANCE | Scholarship PE NZ 2013 | Scoop.it

Sport, at both international and local levels, seems to constantly be in a doping crisis. It may be time to consider legalising performance enhancers because zero tolerance is clearly not working.

Czech E.'s curator insight, October 19, 2014 11:06 AM

As strength trainers and conditioning trainers, coaches, or physical therapists -- the professionals who help shape these athletes, we face a decision: "to dope or not to dope."

sujeilly garcia's curator insight, August 16, 2015 9:47 AM

Sport is going through a constant doping crisis. Arguments about the danger of enhancement drugs are still present.

Read to see what what others think of the topic...

Mark Silva's curator insight, January 13, 9:28 PM

So...because organizations are failing to live by the "zero tolerance" of doping, people honestly think we should consider legalizing the use of drugs and performance enhancing drugs in particular for athletes. Instead of bringing down the standard to meet the athletes, we should be bringing the athletes up to the standard.
