My Insights for these Articles

Why did i choose these articles?

Miles Mason's insight:

I picked these specific articles to observe the evolution of hip-hop. Sampling, though illegal in certain ways, changed hip-hop which improved communities and society in a musical fashion. Artists, such as Kanye West and P. Diddy, took advantage of sampling but have been sued by the owners of the original piece. Miles Mason's insight:

Some commercial artists have a tendency to project their lyrics over sampled music, because this process is faster than waiting for an original beat. Miles Mason's insight:

Expanding one's vision from hearing a sound to stretching that out into a musical beat, created the ability to sample songs. Hip-hop did evolve from stealing work from the producer of an original beat without giving that person any credit.

Miles Mason's insight:

Kanye West sampled the artist, David Pryor, saying the words "get down" on his song "Bumpin' Bus Stop". Though Kanye West used this sample to make one of the best records for the year 2005, "Gold Digger", he used these words without the family's consent.

Miles Mason's insight:

Combining current art works with previous record can create an interesting sound, which has helped the hip-hop community in a helpful way. Sometimes, sampling past records can be seen as disrespectful because those who have worked on the song that was sampled were not given any credit.
