A study shows that using Twitter to predict flu outbreaks takes 6 weeks less than classical studies leaded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Once again, this example shows the growing importance of prediction technologies in the healthcare industry.

"En estos momentos en los que se habla tanto de la educación del Siglo XXI y del aprendizaje competencial, las metodologías activas, las nuevas tecnologías, la autorregulación en el aprendizaje, etc., aún se sigue usando la calificación como elemento de poder y control. En muchos casos la evaluación, que es el proceso más rico y poderoso en la construcción de aprendizajes, se reduce a la fórmula “calificación=control”."

Ebola spreading intensely in Sierra Leone, global toll rises: WHO - About Health Degrees | Salud Publica | Scoop.it

The death toll from the Ebola epidemic has risen to 6,070 out of 17,145 cases as of Nov. 30, and the virus continues to spread intensely across Sierra Leone, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Wednesday.

Sierra Leone recorded 537 new Ebola cases in the week to Nov. 30, against 385 the previous week, the WHO said in its latest update.
