Using their hands and a variety of techniques, massage therapists use massage therapy to “improve function within the body”. To relax clients and improve circulation, massage therapists manipulate soft tissue in the body. Massage therapists also help improve general health and wellbeing while preventing any medical issues. Massage therapy is one of the oldest types of healthcare. Examples of different types of massage are: swedish massage, shiatsu, deep tissue massage, thai massage, hot stone massage, aromatherapy massage, and sports massage.<br><br>

Reflexologists believe that by applying appropriate pressure to points and areas on the feet, hands, or ears, that these areas will correspond to body organs and systems and benefit the organs and the persons health. Even though millions of people us reflexology to complement other treatments, it is not used to diagnose or cure health disorders. Conditions that reflexology can help with would be: anxiety, asthma, cancer treatment, cardiovascular issues, diabetes, headaches, kidney function, PMS, and sinusitis. Reflexology comes from ancient practice and its origin is hard to track but there are many traces of it in history.

There are several massage therapy benefits for various medical conditions that people have, but the difference is when the therapist knows what they are doing, as well as the compassion, to help patients through whatever they are going through. Medical massage therapy deals with the treatment and recovery of patients. Training programs teach students to use common massage therapy practices in a hospital setting.
