Who stole the tapes of Gaddafi 's talks with world leaders?

Article in Italian, worth reading it, even if the translator

[...]The hunt for the "recordings"  of the Colonel should be initiated in October 2011, when the column of Gaddafi has been located and bombed by two French Rafale fighter.  Gaddafi had been taken alive, but then they shot him the coup de grace. "The impression is that after the first group of rebels has come a second, he knew exactly what to do and had strict orders to eliminate the prisoners," says a confidential source of the Journal that he was engaged in the conflict. The shadow of the French service on the end of Gaddafi is heavy.

[...]The rebels want money and deliver as bait on a cassette, of little importance, which concerns the President of What d'Ivoire. The material is hidden in a secret place. A few months later Albichari claims to have "been betrayed" and dies for a diabetic crisis only 37 years old. Not only the body of Choukri Ghanem, a former Libyan oil minister, keeper of more sensitive information, is found floating in the river Danube in Vienna.

Libya S.O.S.: Playing God in Iraq, Libya, Syria: the evils of interventionist wars

Libya S.O.S.: Playing God in Iraq, Libya, Syria: the evils of interventionist wars | Saif al Islam | Scoop.it

In Libya, the US and its allies in Nato took off the white hat and handed it to the so-called rebels, comprising mostly tribes out of favour with Gadaffi.

The West took a visible role, especially in its bombing sorties, but one that made sure the local actors were presented as in the driving seat.

The West was only too happy to appear as if relegated to a minor role: enabling the good guys.
After Libya’s outlaw, Muammar Gadaffi, was beaten to death by the rebels last year, the credits rolled. The movie was over for Western audiences

Libya regarded as test of global doctrine

The joint U.S. and international air strikes targeting Libya are widely regarded as a test of Responsibility to Protect – which is a set of principles, now backed by the United Nations, based on the idea that sovereignty is not a privilege, but a responsibility.

According to the principle, any state’s sovereignty can be overrun, including with the use of military force, if the international community decides it must act to halt what it determines to be genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity or ethnic cleansing.

Happy Birthday Muammar Gaddafi #Libya #FreeWorld | Saif al Islam | Scoop.it

June 7th is the birthday of one of the world's greatest leaders in history. A man who showed that a government can truly and honestly be of the people, by the people and for the people, rather than an instrument of exploitation and robbery, keeping its citizens plastered in their particular social strata, unable to break free.

Libya S.O.S.: Lizzie Phelan interviews son of captive Dr. Abuzaid Omar Dorda | Saif al Islam | Scoop.it

Once Libyan Prime Minister, Permanent Representative to the UN and head of intelligence, Dr Dr. Abuzaid Omar Dorda's life is now in grave danger. In contravention of international law and with human rights organisations and the UN itself turning a blind eye, Dr Dorda has suffered torture, inhumane and severe mistreatment and numerous attempts on his life since NTC forces detained him on September 11. His health is deteriorating and he remains untreated since October 25 for internal bleeding and broken bones. His family are being refused the right to visit him.

#Libya rebels: Human Trafficing mafia in Benghazi

#Libya rebels: Human Trafficing mafia in Benghazi | Saif al Islam | Scoop.it

Benghazi is well-known as a hot-bed of religious extremism. The Cyrenaica region has a long Islamist tradition going back to the Senussi brotherhood. Religious fundamentalism is much more evident here than in the western part of the country. Women are completely veiled from head to foot. They cannot drive and their social life is reduced to a minimum. Bearded men predominate. They often have the black mark of piety on their foreheads [the “zebibah,” which is formed by repeated prostration during Muslim prayers].
It is a little-known fact that Benghazi has become over the last 15 years the epicenter of African migration to Europe. This traffic in human beings has been transformed into a veritable industry, generating billions of dollars.

The UN and the parallel world

The UN and the parallel world | Saif al Islam | Scoop.it
Reading some of the material which emanates from the UNO is like reading of some parallel world, some cloud cuckoo land where fairies live at the end of the garden, where clouds are pink and skies are rosy, a fantasy world created and perpetuated by the mainstream media. But beware of the siren's song...

Ian Martin, the top UN envoy to Libya, has called on the need to include women in Libyan society as the country is rebuilt. Anyone informed would already have done a double-take in incredulity, the more informed would have gone puce red in rage and the most informed would be banging their fists on the table in outrage.

Mrs. Gadhafi's Struggle: German Medical Care for Libyan War Victims Falls Short - SPIEGEL ONLINE | Saif al Islam | Scoop.it
The German government promised hundreds of war victims from Libya medical help, but many who were wounded are now struggling to get the care they need.

Afaf Gadhafi, shown here with her son and husband, was attacked by rebels in Libya. The war refugees now live in Munich.

The rockets struck Afaf Gadhafi's car one day last August. The 38-year-old,  had sought to reach an airport with her family to flee the civil war. But rebels attacked...

Afaf's daughters, aged two and 19 months, were killed, along with her mother, sister and nephew. Afaf lost an eye and suffered serious injury to her nose and left arm. Her four-year-old son survived only because her sister protected his body with her own.

Libya: New AFRICOM And NATO Beachhead In Africa

Libya: New AFRICOM And NATO Beachhead In Africa | Saif al Islam | Scoop.it

Testifying with General Ham was Admiral James Stavridis, jointly commander of U.S. European Command (EUCOM) and NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe.

AFRICOM was created by EUCOM under the tutelage of dual EUCOM and NATO top commanders Generals James Jones and Bantz John Craddock in the years before achieving full operational capability - that is, being launched as an independent unified combatant command - on October 1, 2008. In the year preceding that, during its October 1, 2007-September 30, 2008 initial operational capability, it was subordinated to EUCOM. Almost all of Africa's now 54 countries (with South Sudan becoming an independent nation last year) were in EUCOM's area of responsibility and all but Egypt (still covered under U.S. Central Command) are now in AFRICOM's. As such, AFRICOM encompasses more nations than any other Pentagon regional command and all but one nation in a continent that is the world's second-most populous, with Africa's population having surpassed one billion last year.

The war against Libya was the inauguration of AFRICOM as an active military force capable of waging large-scale combat operations, as it was NATO's first war in Africa, building on a strategy first unveiled in the massive Steadfast Jaguar war games in Cape Verde in 2006 to launch the global NATO Response Force.

“Today, those who took part in the uprising are above the law”

Unfortunately, the NTC government is doing nothing to prevent this type of abuse. On the contrary, perpetrators benefit from complete impunity, thanks to a new law that stipulates that former rebels cannot be brought to court or punished for “acts committed with the goal of ensuring the revolution’s success.” In other words, today, those who took part in the uprising are above the law.
Anyone who criticizes them is immediately branded a Gaddafi sympathizer.

Al-Qaida-fighter and Salafist Abdul Hakim Belhadj is now Military Commander of Tripoli (aug 26)

Escobar says that Taliban-linked sources overseas have confirmed Belhadj as the new commander. In the aftermath of 9/11, the CIA began tracking Belhadj, who was eventually captured in Malaysia in 2003.

Escobar says that he was then tortured in Bangkok before being transferred back to Libya and imprisoned. He made a deal that allowed for his release in 2009 and as of this week is the military commander of Tripoli.
