Obama's War on Humanity. By Stephen Lendman - #AskObamaWhy #Obama #US #R2P #Syria #Libya | Saif al Islam | Scoop.it

"Obama targets humanity at home and abroad. Illinoisans paying attention knew long ago. He served as senator for the state's 13th district.

He sold out straightaway. Real estate interests had their man. Gentrification demolitions rewarded them. Poor folks were driven out. Most were Black.

Banking, finance, insurance, and real estate interests comprised his political base then and now. Needs of constituents he represented were ignored. Community uplift rhetoric disguised harming people who needed help.

Critics called his record kick back cronyism. Convicted felons and big monied interests funded him. Every dollar invested returned multiples.

Pay-to-play was always Chicago's way. City and state politics are notoriously corrupt. Obama played the game down and dirty.

He earned his bona fides. He was well suited for bigger and better things in Washington. He was singled out and took full advantage. Nationally he betrayed the poor and disadvantaged the way he did in Illinois. Globally it's much worse. ... "

PEPE ESCOBAR :: American (jihadi) Idol - #Libya #Syria #FSA "Quatar #Saudi Jordan #Iraqu #US #Terrorism #Obama # | Saif al Islam | Scoop.it

(...) Syria is now the ultimate Sex Pistol-inspired Holiday in the Sun (the jihadi remix); a magnet to Libyans, Jordanians, Saudis, Algerians, Chechens, Af-Pakis, and even Brits with thick London accents. [2]

They are fighting alongside Syrian Islamists such as this one, named Abu Bakr, who has just got his 15 minutes of fame on Reuters. [3]

Asked about his future plans, Abu Bakr admitted, "I don't want to immediately impose Sharia law and start cutting off people's hands for stealing. I believe in Sharia. But if we force it on people, we will create fear. We have to assure minorities we will treat them well".

The operative word here is of course "immediately". First we get rid of the bloody dictator and his evil regime. We save the hand cutting and the beheading of infidel Alawites, Christians, Druzes and Kurds for later.

Compounding the farce of an FSA totally infiltrated by jihadis, and in the case of many gangs/brigades, actually dominating the whole thing, Western corporate media is taking no prisoners selling the notion that the CIA is on the ground just performing the innocent job of separating the FSA wheat from the jihadi chaff, arbitrating who gets suitcases full of US dollars.

Believers take note; Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) are now on sale on Ebay.

Apparently no one told US Secretary of State Hillary "We came, we saw, he died" Clinton about this jihadi monkey business. [4]

She is adamant she will have none of this "disciplined, religious fervor, experience from Iraq" al-Qaeda eulogies. But then again, she will; Iran, after all, remains the Supreme Evil beyond any possible Axis; moreover, Washington needs a dependable someone to blame in the never-ending charade of the "war on terra".

So forget about the upcoming Kathryn Bigelow-directed flick glorifying the Osama bin Laden raid in Abbottabad. "We're spending billions of dollars. We are still no closer to defeating our enemy". [5]

You don't defeat your enemy; you seduce and co-opt him. Think of a remake of Billy Wilder's iconic Sunset Boulevard, with Norma Desmond played by Osama bin Laden. "I used to be big. It's the pictures that became small".

Jihadis of the world, you have nothing to lose but your collection of al-Zawahiri speeches on scratchy DVD. The time has come for you to go on a Hollywood pilgrimage, and finally crack the immortal line; "I'm ready for my close-up, Mr bin Laden". Get ready to be swamped by rave reviews."

Oil and democracy in Libya: What kind of mix? #Libya #Oil #US #THIEVES #NTC #

Oil and democracy in Libya: What kind of mix? #Libya #Oil #US #THIEVES #NTC # | Saif al Islam | Scoop.it
Two weeks ago, the results of Libya’s first election in four decades were announced in what marks an important achievement for a country still struggling to break free from its authoritarian past.

(...) And, fearing the ramifications of the Arab Spring, Colombian soldiers are apparently being recruited to act as mercenaries to suppress any potential uprising.

This is why the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, or EITI, is so important. Composed of a range of actors including governments, civil society groups, corporations, investors and international organizations, EITI sets global standards that allow citizens to easily access information about the revenue their state brings in from the sale of natural resources, including oil. For their part, and because a favourable business climate depends on openness and accountability, oil companies — and here, Suncor has a role to play — can also participate by revealing the sums they have provided to the state in return for the ability to gain access to oilfields.

EITI asked Libya to join in December but the National Transitional Council failed to act. Still, there is clear interest in what EITI has to offer. In May, EITI officials met with Libyan civil society groups and discussed how to best cultivate a relationship. That same month, protesters marched on the headquarters of the state oil company and demanded to know how oil profits are being spent.

The national assembly and the government it chooses will now have an opportunity to address these calls for accountability. Will it act boldly and seek to protect against the potential abuse of oil revenues and all the dangers that come with it? Or, will it keep with the status quo? The answer holds the key to determining not only the nature of Libya’s political future but whether the fight against Gadhafi was worth it in the first place."

Red Cross says attacked in Libya's Misrata, halts work

Red Cross says attacked in Libya's Misrata, halts work | Saif al Islam | Scoop.it

"TRIPOLI — Armed assailants laid siege on Sunday to a residence of Red Cross staff in the western Libyan city of Misrata, causing major damage to the building, the organisation said.

Seven staff were in the residence when the "unknown individuals" attacked the building with "various kinds of heavy weaponry" at dawn, said a statement from the International Committee of the Red Cross, adding that they were unharmed.

The ICRC strongly condemned the attack and said it would suspend its work in Misrata and Benghazi in the east following what it called the fifth such incident in the two cities in less than three months.

"We are appalled by this latest act and by the deliberate targeting of our staff: they have put their lives at risk to serve the Libyan people both during and after the conflict," said Ishfaq Muhamed Khan, ICRC delegation head in Libya.

The Geneva-based organisation said that it has become extremely concerned about the "wave of attacks against humanitarian workers and the deterioration of the security situation in Libya."

"Given the circumstances, we are forced to announce, with considerable regret, that we will be suspending all our activities in Misrata and Benghazi and that our delegates in those cities will be temporarily relocated," said Khan.

"This most recent attack could have had very grave consequences for our colleagues," he added. "

HOW MEDIA IS SPONSOR GENOCIDES: Mercenaries In Libya  "Shabiha" In Syria ~ Tony Cartalucci :   Massacres in Aleppo, Syria. | Saif al Islam | Scoop.it

"(...) The FSA's claims of everyone they round up, torture, and execute being "Shabiha" carry with them the familiar and horrifying ring of the term "African mercenaries" used to label black Libyans who were targeted by NATO-armed racist sectarian extremists also posing as "revolutionaries." In the end, entire cities were emptied out of blacks (and here) who had for generations called Libya home. Refugee camps were then systematically targeted until Libya's blacks were either dead, imprisoned or exiled beyond their homeland's borders as part of a brutal genocidal campaign covered up by the Western media and downplayed by the West's self-appointed global arbiters of human rights, namely Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.

While the West still to this day claims Libya's blacks were "pro-Qaddafi," Libya's blacks had no choice but to fight NATO's terrorists of Benghazi, as their complexions and creeds, not political affiliations, had marked them as intolerable and undesirable by NATO's "liberators."

Likewise, a similar campaign of sectarian driven genocide, predicted for years should the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia and others unleash Al Qaeda aligned death squads across the Levant to destabilize their geopolitical enemies, is unfolding, due in part to the complicity of the Western media. (...)"

(...) The investigation into the situation in Libya was opened by the ICC prosecutor on 3 March 2011, following a preliminary examination of available information prompted by the adoption of UNSC Resolution 1970 (2011) on 26 February 2011, which referred the situation in Libya, a state not party to the Rome Statute, to the Court. On 27 June 2011, PTC I issued a warrant of arrest for Gaddafi for alleged crimes against humanity (murder and persecution) committed in Libya from 15 February until at least 28 February 2011. Arrest warrants were also issued for Libyan leader Muammar Mohammed Abu Minyar Gaddafi and Abdullah Al-Senussi, director of military intelligence. (... )

"At Justice in Conflict, Mark Kersten calls attention to a recent motion filed by the Libyan government asking for more time — read: stalling — to reply to the OPCD’s response to its admissibility challenge.  The government doesn’t actually want a deadline to respond; it would like to have 18 days from whenever it gets around to appointing a new Ministry of Justice team (para. 14).  That request in itself is a mockery of the ICC’s rules for filing motions and responses, but what is particularly chilling about the motion is the way that it attempts to use the Libyan government’s illegal detention of Melinda Taylor and her team as grounds for removing the OPCD from the case.  I can’t cut-and-paste the relevant paragraphs — thanks, Registry! — so I’ll summarize them: ... "In my earlier post on Libya’s admissibility challenge, I explained how the Libyan government’s failure to provide Saif with due process could be relevant to the admissibility of the case against him.  There is, however, a far stronger argument against Libya’s admissibility challenge, one thatI’ve discussed before: namely, that Article 17(3) deems a case admissible if “the State is unable to obtain the accused,” and Libya is unable to obtain Saif from the Zintan militia that has him in custody.  The OPCD’s response makes the argument at length, with considerably more information than has appeared to date.  (I just wish the OPCD had foregrounded the argument more clearly in the motion; it doesn’t appear until page 80).  Here are the relevant paragraphs: ...
