Kiev Junta Joins Al Qaeda | New Eastern Outlook

Kiev Junta Joins Al Qaeda | New Eastern Outlook | Saif al Islam | Scoop.it

NATO believes they are setting up a base of operations against Russia in the Ukraine. Saudi Arabia is recruiting jihadists from across Europe, with 5000 to be in Ukraine, armed and trained both in Poland and Ukraine, in a month. However, command of this force falls, not to Kiev or even Langley but to the most extreme elements fighting in Syria and Iraq.

NATO and now Saudi Arabia are establishing the Ukraine as a base of operations for Al Qaeda, AQIU (Al Qaeda In Ukraine). Many of those recruited are from veterans of the Syrian war, having survived the infighting between insurgent groups and the onslaught of the Syrian Army.

THE REAL AL QAEDA

Al Qaeda has long looked on Syria as a way of breathing a “second life” into an organization that should have been past its time. You see, the real Al Qaeda was never the reputed inheritor of the Mujahedeen led by Osama bin Laden, as told in popular mythology.

M of A - Ukraine: Who Wages The Pipeline War?

So who are these "terrorists" that blew up a gas pipeline in west Ukraine?

The Head of Ivano-Frankivsk regional state administration Andriy Trotsenko told there were three explosions at the international high pressure gas pipeline Urengoy–Pomary–Uzhgorod in Nebyliv village, Ivano-Frankivsk region.

As Radio Free Europe informs, Trotsenko has told all three explosions were similar, "the appropriate explosive devices were planted into the ground just below the pipeline”. In particular, the remnants of remote-controlled explosive device were found at the scene near Limnytsya River.

The Ivano-Frankivsk Prosecutor's office opened a criminal proceeding upon the explosion at international pipeline. The provisional crime determination is "terrorist attack".

The coup government in Kiev is waging a civil war against federalists in east Ukraine. It calls that war, in which it uses heavy weapons against civilians, an "anti-terrorist operation".

But are those "terrorist" the same "terrorists" that blew up the gas line in west-Ukraine? The coup government would likely be happy if the world starts to believe such. But there are other people, very different from the federalists, who had threatened to blow up these lines:

The leader of the far-right Ukrainian nationalist Pravy Sektor (Right Sector) party has reportedly threatened to attack Russia's lucrative gas pipeline which travels through Ukraine to prevent the Kremlin from sparking a "Third World War".
...
The pipeline in question, the Trans-Siberian Pipeline, supplies Europe with the majority of its gas imports.

"We are well aware of the fact that Russia is earning money by transporting its oil and gas to the West through our pipe," [Dmitry Yarosh] said. "Therefore, we'll destroy this pipe in order to deprive Russia of its financing source."

On the Euromaidan PR video Russian Terrorists Burnt Alive shows badly burnt bodies in the stairwell. Odd positions, heads up, feet facing up to higher floor, rigor mortis, hands sticking up. It looks like these people did not die naturally in these positions. Many of the same oddities as we saw in the Khamis Brigade Morgue. Note the tags attached to the wrists. Some have documents in plastic bags attached with cable ties. These must have been placed by rescue services after the fire. -- Petri Krohn (talk) 06:50, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

Confusion Alert: Is Corporate Storytelling Replacing News?

Confusion Alert: Is Corporate Storytelling Replacing News? | Saif al Islam | Scoop.it

"Today's discussion: When journalism's business model falters, should we all jump ship to 'corporate storytelling,' also known as content marketing?"

Via Karen Dietz

Karen Dietz's curator insight, May 15, 2014 3:35 PM

Fellow curator zbutcher sent me this piece and I think it is worth commenting on.

Basically, this article is about how corporate storytelling is perhaps replacing journalism. But what I experience as I read this article is that there's a lot of confusion between effective corporate storytelling, journalism, and public relations (PR).

So this is a problematic article on many fronts, and it helps inform us about what we need to do and not do when working in business storytelling. It may even help those corporations trying to do good storytelling where they might be going astray because the story label is applied so broadly.

You should know that I was trained as a journalist, and worked in that capacity, oh so many years ago. There is a huge difference between news stories, feature stories, and the kind of storytelling we talk about here, even though they are all called stories.

News stories are crafted as a pyramid. The who, what, when, where, why goes at the top. Stories follow an inverted pyramid where a context is set and then we drive home to the point of the story at the bottom. Feature news stories focus on grabbing the most interesting part of the story and sharing that at or near the beginning.

As the author says, the best of corporate storytelling is not mere promotion, announcements, or spin. Oh sure, there's tons of that around and it often is not worthy of anyone's attention.

And content marketing is just a vehicle for sharing stories. Content marketing is a mix of news and the best of business storytelling.

OK -- so why pay attention to this article? Well, it's a good example of the different notions out there in the marketplace about business storytelling. Yet despite this, it shows how journalists can also be great assets in a content marketing strategy, particularly when "I'm always reporting and writing as a service to our readers, not the companies I'm writing about" as the author says.

I think, however, that the author got it backwards when she says "Journalism is more than storytelling." I think it should read: "Storytelling is more than journalism" because news/feature stories are not the only kind of storytelling on the planet.
