A not even terribly high dose of curcumin – the principal bioactive ingredient in turmeric powder – causes a steep rise in the amount of testosterone in the blood of male rats. Researchers from Redeemer's University in Nigeria wrote about it in the Journal of Steroid Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

On jälleen tullut aika julkaista perinteinen Vaasan Jaakkoon puolukkajuoma-resepti. Resepti on kulkenut suvussa vuosikymmeniä ja sen alkuperäinen lähde on tietysti Vaasan Jaakkoo (1887 - 1951) eli oikealta nimeltään Jaakko Oskari Ikolan aikoinaan Vaasa-lehdessa julkaisema ohje. Jaakkoo ei ilmeisesti itse juomaansa keksinyt, vaan kopioi sen jostakin ruotsinkielisestä lähteestä.
