#NewsBlur: A real solution to the deprecated YouTube API

#NewsBlur: A real solution to the deprecated YouTube API | RSS Circus : veille stratégique, intelligence économique, curation, publication, Web 2.0 | Scoop.it
YouTube, owned by Google, deprecated their v2 APIs on April 20th, 2015, which means that RSS news readers can no longer watch for new videos. What a bummer!
Except it’s not at all a big deal because...

FeedHQ "Open Reader API" (based on the undocumented Google Reader API) goes open source

FeedHQ "Open Reader API" (based on the undocumented Google Reader API) goes open source | RSS Circus : veille stratégique, intelligence économique, curation, publication, Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

FeedHQ implements the Google Reader API—also known as the Open Reader API—to provide synchronization capabilities to client apps. This API was not officially supported and remained undocumented in the times of Google Reader. Finding extensive documentation about the API wasn't very easy as everything was scattered across wikis, blog posts and StackOverflow answers. Some good resources about that API even disappeared in the past year.

Having implemented the API, I know pretty well how it works. I decided to document it and publish the API reference on ReadTheDocs. It describes FeedHQ's API implementation but there are only minor differences with Google Reader's implementation. The goal still is to allow any Google Reader client to support FeedHQ with minimal changes.

I hope that FeedHQ's API docs will shed a bit of light and be useful to people who work with the Open Reader API in general!

Open Reader API: Towards a RSS consensus

This is an effort to define a new common feed-syncing API protocol based (or not) on Google Reader. We recognise that we are many – many competing against each other – and many with conflicting agendas. But we come together here, putting aside our differences, to support RSS and the its ecosystem. Recognising that only by sharing a common platform can we make RSS easily consumable and help the average users...

Serge Courrier's insight:

reader - An API Compatible Replacement for Google Reader
Serge Courrier's insight:
