Rafael Nadal defeated Novak Djokovic in the final of the French Open. The No. 1 got a phenomenal victory in four sets (3-6, 7-5, 6-2 and 6-4). and wrote a new page in the history of tennis. The Spanish achieved a new title in Roland Garros and became the only player to reach nine championships in the same grand slam. In addition, he equaled Pete Sampras with 14 GS.

Andy Murray advanced to the third round of the French Open The Scots had no trouble for Australian Marinko Matosevic beat in straight sets (6-3, 6-1 and 6-3). The end result reflected the development of the party, which showed a clear superiority of the number 7. After the victory, Murray referred to the end of the employment relationship with Ivan Lendl and clarified. "When the time is right I will make an announcement ".

Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka lost in the first round at the French Open on Monday, surprised by Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, 6-0.

The first surprise came on the second day of competition. Stanislas Wawrinka, No. 3, lost in the first round of Roland Garros. The Swiss, who won the first Grand Slam in Australia, was defeated by the Spanish Guillermo Garcia Lopez in four sets (6-4, 5-7, 6-2, 6-0). Those who did not fail were Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Both advanced to the next round without problems. The Spanish, No. 1, beat Robby Ginepri in straight sets (6-0, 6-3, 6-0), while the Serbian, No. 2, defetead Joao Sousa 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 . After the victory, Nadal, who won most titles at Roland Garros (8),  talked in awesome and expressed his happiness. In the other lane, Djokovic attempt to achieve the championship and thus go down in history as one of the players who won all the Grand Slam.

Victoria Azarenka will miss the French Open because of a left foot injury.

The women´s main draw lost a great player. Victoria Azarenka will not play in Roland Garros because of a left foot injury. The ex number 1 of the WTA Ranking announced that  on her official Twitter account. ""Unfortunately I will not be able to compete in Roland Garros this year. Working hard on my recovery & getting back on the court", said the Belarusian.

In the male main draw there are six players from France (Pierre-Hugues Herbert, Michael Llodra, Paul-Henri Mathieu, Axel Michon, Albano Olivetti y Lucas Pouille), one from USA (Robby Ginepri) and the last one from Australia (Nick Kyrgios).

Rafael Nadal won the last title prior to Roland Garros. The Spanish beat Kei Nishikori 2-6, 6-4 and 3-0. The Japanese had to retire because of a back injury. Nadal got his title number 63 and the twenty-seventh Masters 1000.

On Wednesday morning, Roger Federer advanced to the third round of the French Open. The Swiss defeated the Argentinian Diego Schwartzman in straight sets (6-3, 6-4 and 6-4) and and won his 60th game at Roland Garros. The No. 4 imposed his style and from his winners (29) and aces (9) built the victory. Federer won 20 straight matches vs tournament qualifiers. In the next round, Federer will play against Russian Dmitry Tursunov, who beat American Sam Querrey.

Roger Federer started steadily in Roland Garros. The Swiss defetead Lukas Lacko for 6-2, 6-4 and 6-2 in an hour and 26 minutes. After the game, the world No 4 said that "Rafael Nadal is the favourite to win the French Grand Slam and Novak Djokovic". In the next round, Federer will face the qualifier Diego Schwartzman, who beat the Portuguese, Gastão Elias, also in three sets.
In the female main draw, Serena Williams, defending championship and No 1, beat the French Alize Lim for 6-2 and 6-1 in an hour and 18 minutes. Her sister, Venus, also advanced to the next round.

"I'm 37 years old and it's getting more and more difficult to find the motivation and the desire to go out and practise every day", said Gicquel, who became the number 37 in the ATP ranking in 2008.
