Patricia McKenzie talks about Robert Pattinson and "Cosmopolis"

Patricia McKenzie talks about Robert Pattinson and "Cosmopolis" | Robert Pattinson Daily News, Photo, Video & Fan Art | Scoop.it

ROBsessed: Tell us something we might not know about Rob and David.
McKenzie: They are two of the sweetest men in Hollywood.  Both are extremely humble in person and lack pretension.   I felt very comfortable around both of them.  David Cronenberg gave me a big hug the first time I ever saw him, and he said he was happy to finally meet me, which was so disarming, charming and fatherly.  I think that is when I fell in love, because I will give everything to a director that makes me feel as safe and protected as a child.  And Cronenberg is so patient.  He gives everyone on set all the time they need to do their best work, and speaks quietly to keep the atmosphere on set very calm and enjoyable.  David was also very patient with my fawning over him at the warp party, because I was so appreciative of his work style I just couldn't help gushing like a schoolgirl with with a crush, very embarrassing in retrospect. I didn't expect Rob to be so tall, and so charming.

Everyone loved him on set.  He  can carry his own in any conversation and takes pains to make others feel at ease.  He is very down-to-earth and low-key, the kind of guy that just chills with his dog, or with a pint. What's his dogs name, Bear? I'm pretty sure I remember that from playing with him, although it's possible I heard the name somewhere, but anyone who calls a small dog "Bear" has a good sense of humour. I had two 95lb boxers named Zeus and Troy,  that I was missing, so it was fun to play with that friendly little Bear.  Anyway, I got the impression that he preferred a dark pub, to cruising on a yacht, or anything fancy.  He actually called me "fancy" because yes, if there's an occasion, I may prefer boating to beers on a hot summer day, but otherwise, I like to stay home and immerse myself in my own world.

eOne acquired David Cronenberg’s 'Maps To The Stars' for release in US

eOne acquired David Cronenberg’s 'Maps To The Stars' for release in US | Robert Pattinson Daily News, Photo, Video & Fan Art | Scoop.it

eOne is one of the industry’s most significant buyers.

The US remains largely a home entertainment business for eOne but the company is beginning to grow its theatrical ambitions in the territory.

Lara Thompson, eOne’s Los Angeles-based acquisitions head, has been busily planning for the future.

“The idea is to have a mixture of home entertainment, day-and-date and theatrical releases,” says Thompson. “Clearly the US is very competitive. But we have just acquired David Cronenberg’s Maps To The Stars, which will be our biggest theatrical release in the territory to date.”

Robert Pattinson’s Busy Schedule - Overlapping Projects

Robert Pattinson’s Busy Schedule - Overlapping Projects | Robert Pattinson Daily News, Photo, Video & Fan Art | Scoop.it
RPattinson-Daily's insight:

According to current information about shooting schedule of Robert Pattinson's forthcoming projects:

1) David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars, to feature Robert Pattinson, Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Mia Wasikowska, Olivia Williams, Sarah Gadon, and Evan Bird is to begin filming in July in Los Angeles and Toronto.

2) EmbankmentFilms is announcing shooting of Mission: Blacklist in late summer 2013 (August).

3) Werner Herzog’s Queen of the Desert, in which Robert Pattinson is to star opposite Naomi Watts and James Franco, starts shooting in Morocco in September, as it was tweeted by a Queen of the Desert co-producing company Division Films.

The result of that is dramatic overlapping of shooting schedules...Will they  be rearranged? Or there is high probability of Robert's drop out of one of these projects..

Julianne Moore Talks 'Maps To The Stars' Movie With Robert Pattinson, John Cusack

Julianne Moore Talks 'Maps To The Stars' Movie With Robert Pattinson, John Cusack | Robert Pattinson Daily News, Photo, Video & Fan Art | Scoop.it

Julianne Moore, Robert Pattinson, and John Cusack are set to star in Maps to the Stars. The film is about something that seems to be on just about everyone’s mind at one point or another – celebrity and fame. At a recent press day in NYC for The English Teacher that Opposing Views attended, Julianne Moore talked about the movie and her thoughts on celebrity culture.

“The movie is based on a book by Bruce Wagner who’s a wonderful writer and L.A. satirist,” Moore said. “It’s not only about celebrity culture, but the pursuit of fame at any cost. I was talking to my husband about this the other day, why do people want to be famous, what is it that people are interested in, why are they looking at it? I think every human being has a desire to be seen; to be seen for who they are authentically and sometimes they misinterpret it as being seen in a different light.

“Because really where we feel best and most successful is when we are seen for ourselves in a personal relationship and yet celebrity culture has sort of distorted it and made it about people valuing people being seen as like pictures or images,” Moore continued. “There’s this weird disconnect that the celebrity culture enforces and I don’t know how we got there. I feel like it happened really rapidly too because when I started out as an actor it wasn’t quite the same.”

Maps to the Stars is set for release in 2013 and is directed by David Cronenberg. The film is being described as indie ghost story.

Liz Watts, Producer of THE ROVER, Talks About Filming In South Australia’s Outback

Liz Watts, Producer of THE ROVER, Talks About Filming In South Australia’s Outback | Robert Pattinson Daily News, Photo, Video & Fan Art | Scoop.it

The small towns and semi-desert landscape of South Australia’s outback will feature on the big screen as the buzz surrounding Australian feature film The Rover, starring Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson, continues to grow.

The Rover, written and directed by David Michôd and produced by Liz Watts, David Linde, and David Michôd through Porchlight Films, in association with Lava Bear Films LLC, has recently completed its seven weeks of principal photography in South Australia, utilising the unique desert landscape SA offers to provide the perfect backdrop for the film’s storyline.

Liz Watts, producer of The Rover, commented:

“The ability of South Australia to offer dramatic, unique and stunning landscapes, mixed with towns of distinctive original character, all supported by world class facilities (as those at the Studios) was a major part of our decision to shoot in South Australia. We found the Adelaide Studios incredibly accommodating to our needs- flexible and willing to work with us on different elements of production we needed. They were simply, great.

For us, our ability to work with locals and townships and location owners in shooting was a really important part of achieving the look and tone of the film that we wanted. We shot in five key areas; around Port Augusta; Quorne and its neighbours, Hammond and Bruce; Hawker; Parachilna and lastly the absolutely unique Marree. Ever since David and I first visited Marree last year in surveys we were keen to include the town in the film, and we ended up spending just over two and a half weeks there with around 100 cast and crew, effectively doubling the population of the town. But the support we found there from the whole community was exceptional. I believe The Rover is the first feature film (since the amazing Back of Beyond documentary was shot there in the 1950s) to shoot in Marree, and we feel pretty priviledged in doing so.

We worked with locals in many ways including great locations and their owners, plus cast and extras. For our crew, this film has been a really memorable experience - as it was for our two leads, Guy and Rob."

THE ROVER will be completed in late 2013 and theatrical release timed for first quarter 2014. Australian distributor is Village Roadshow with FilmNation distributing internationally.

Eric Maddox Talks About Mission: Blacklist and Robert Pattinson

Eric Maddox Talks About Mission: Blacklist and Robert Pattinson | Robert Pattinson Daily News, Photo, Video & Fan Art | Scoop.it

Eric Maddox - interrogator, author of book "Mission:Blacklist", responsible for the process of finding and capturing Saddam Hussein.

This same story is encapsulated in his book, “Mission: Blacklist #1,” on which a movie will be based starring Robert Pattinson, who will play Maddox.

“Somebody wants to make a movie about my story - it’s very exciting,” Maddox said.

Maddox said he has already met and gotten to know Pattinson. “He’s a great guy,” Maddox said. “When they brought his name up to me, I had never heard of him before. I don’t believe in vampire movies and stories. I just didn’t know who he was.”

Maddox said he wore a single blue shirt for months in his search for Hussein, with no other changes of clothes. The shirt has a bigmouth bass embossed on it, Velcro pockets and bloodstains. “I’ve still got it [the shirt.] I think Rob is gonna wear it in the movie,” Maddox said.

Maddox had to wait five years to tell his story and write the book due to the U.S. government preferring to keep it classified, he said. “Since then, the United States government wanted me to endorse the movie, and wanted me to say who I am and what I do,” he said.

Sapulpa Daily Herald: More about Maddox's Story and Mission:BlackList

Sapulpa Daily Herald: More about Maddox's Story and Mission:BlackList | Robert Pattinson Daily News, Photo, Video & Fan Art | Scoop.it

Maddox: “I wanted to serve my county.”
He served three years as an airborne ranger. Although he qualified for Officer Candidate School, he chose to remain in the enlisted ranks. He re-ensisted and joined one of the U.S. Army’s language programs.
He was certified in Mandarin  Chinese and worked at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China. In 2001, he decided to leave the army.  Following the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks in New York City, N.Y., Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C., Maddox chose to still serve. “9/11 changed the world for everyone,” he said.
He enlisted for three more years. In 2003, he was not allowed to go to Iraq. The army then sought out an interrogator with a special forces background.
“You leave in 10 days,” army officials told him. Maddox packed up and flew to Baghdad, Iraq, where he signed in at the Joint Special Forces Command.
“There were six interrogators total,” Maddox said. “There were also case officers in a task force. They were a really cool group.”
The U.S. Military was almost at an impasse because the prisoners were not talking. Maddox completed over 20 interrogations within three days.
He realized the insurgents were civilians. They had families, and all these families were connected. Most of these prisoners grew up under Hussein’s regime, and they were accustomed to interrogation and then execution. They were not willing to undergo what they perceived to be their doom with the U.S. military.
“The techniques were not working,” Maddox said. “We needed to find out what made them tick.”
By the end of the first week, the task force invited him to go on the raids with them so he could interrogate insurgents on-site.
Maddox said the Iraqi prisoners whom he and the others interrogated were “normal humans with jobs and families.”
“At the end of the day, they intended to go home,” he said.
He decided to change his approach. He began documenting family, friendships and business relationships. The connections he diagramed included Hussein’s inner circle and even from where and by whom Hussein received his favorite fish and who drove for whom.
“His astute reading of the new contours of society and power in post-Saddam Iraq prompted him to move away from the prevailing Baghdad-centric focus on HVTs and to concentrate instead on the intricate web of tribal affiliations that re-emerged with new force following Saddam’s defeat,” intelligence officials said. “It was by painstakingly constructing from bottom to top the tribal network driving the insurgency that Maddox was able to zero-in on Saddam’s location.”
In November, 2003, the task force was looking for Hussein’s personal body guards. After unsuccessful searches, they found members of Hussein’s core group.
On Dec. 12, 2003, Maddox was leaving Iraq when he received the news the task force made a final raid. He went back and found that they captured one of the body guards whom Maddox suggested they locate and interrogate. He recognized the body guard because he did his homework. The body guard said he recognized Maddox by his shirt.
Maddox wore that blue shirt for months – grit, sand, mud, perspiration, blood and all.
After that interrogation, U.S. forces located Saddam Hussein hiding in a bunker underneath the sands of Iraq, following a rope which lead to a trap door near a farm house.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we got him!" said L. Paul Bremer, head of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq, in his address to U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency officials.
Maddox returned to the U.S. and now works as a civilian interrogator with the government. In 2008, he published the details of his adventures in Iraq, “Mission: Black List No.1: The Inside Story of the Search for Saddam Hussein — As Told by the Soldier Who Masterminded His Capture.” Last summer, it was announced Erik Jendresen, the writer and producer of “Band of Brothers” wrote the screenplay for the movie “Operation: Blacklist” based on Maddox’s accounts. Actor Robert Pattinson, from the “Twilight” series will play Maddox in the Embankment Films production directed by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire.

The movie is in the preproduction process and is scheduled to show not only in the U.S., but also in Cannes, France, the Middle East and North Africa. It is scheduled for release in the summer of 2014.

Misson: Blacklist's screenwriter Dylan Kussman talks about project and Robert Pattinson

Misson: Blacklist's screenwriter Dylan Kussman talks about project and Robert Pattinson | Robert Pattinson Daily News, Photo, Video & Fan Art | Scoop.it

Missionblacklistfrance got the chance to interview the screenwriter for Misson: Blacklist's - Dylan Kussman. Here are the parts in which he mentions Rob and the movie.

Q: Tell us about your work for Mission: Blacklist and how you ended up being a part of this project?
A: "I became involved with Mission: Blacklist when head writer and Executive Producer Erik Jendresen contacted me about contributing to the project. At the time, he and his co-writer Trace Sheehan were deeply immersed in adapting Staff Sergeant Maddox's book, Mission: Black List #1, and were looking for an additional voice to help flesh out the main character and structure his remarkable story as a movie...."

Q: Was it complicated for you to work on this book and, particularly, on this subject?
A: "The most challenging part about working on the project for me personally was absorbing the vast amount of research Erik and Trace had compiled before I came onboard.  On top of the book itself, there were hundreds of pages of interviews they'd conducted with the Staff Sergeant, firsthand accounts of the Iraq War and of the American presence in Baghdad and Tikrit after Saddam's fall -- I had to get up to speed in a hurry.  ... Incredible human beings don't always make compelling onscreen protagonists, but between the work we've done as writers, Jean Stephane Sauvaire's guiding hand as director, and Robert Pattinson's committment to playing this inspiring figure with the fearless honesty for which he's known, I don't think that will be the case here."

Q: Did you work directly with Eric Maddox to sort out what to take or not take from the book?
A: "Both Erik Jendresen and Trace Sheehan worked more directly with Eric Maddox than I did, and Mr. Pattinson has spent an extended amount of time with him at this point. They will be able to speak to your question better than me."

Q: What do you think of Robert Pattinson's choice as the lead man?
A: "Robert Pattinson is a phenomenal choice. We were all thrilled when he came onboard. More importantly, after spending lengthy one-on-one time with Staff Sergeant Maddox, and getting Maddox's personal blessing to portray him in the movie ... he is the only choice."

Q: How do you assess the creative power of the teen star Robert Pattinson, who you will be working with soon?

A: This is a very intelligent man. Writes well. Knows exactly what he's doing. He also knows that he must be out of this short-lived type of role of Teen Stars.

Q:What can you say about your current project, the film adaptation of the life of an archaeologist and undercover agent Gertrude Bell?

A: I talk about it only when it is filmed.

Herald Sun: Guy Pearce says Robert Pattinson is a 'great actor'

Herald Sun: Guy Pearce says Robert Pattinson is a 'great actor' | Robert Pattinson Daily News, Photo, Video & Fan Art | Scoop.it

ROBERT Pattinson is the real deal, according to Guy Pearce, his co-star in The Rover.

The two actors have just spent seven weeks together in the South Australian Outback, filming director David Michod's hotly-anticipated follow-up to Animal Kingdom, with Pearce waxing lyrical about his co-stars ''beautiful face''.

''The best thing about Rob is that he is a really great actor,'' says Pearce.

''Watching the rushes back, you go: 'OK, he is just going to be fantastic'.''

The Twilightstar plays white trailer trash from the southern states of America in the futuristic western, set in an apocalyptic near future where society has broken down in the wake of a severe financial crisis.

''He plays (the character) slightly backward, emotionally useless and really vulnerable,'' says Pearce.

''He's got this beautiful face so you are completely entranced by that face no matter how ugly he makes himself or how wounded he is, or how manky his haircut.''
