Rock Steady Boxing| Improves the quality of life for those battling Parkinsons Disease | ristinaKaed | Scoop.it

Rock Steady Boxing, the first and only boxing program of its kind in the country, was founded in 2006 by former Marion County Prosecutor, Scott C. Newman, who is living with Parkinson’s.

The seed for what would eventually become Rock Steady Boxing was planted when Newman began intense, one-on-one, boxing training just a few years after he was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s at the age of 40. Newman witnessed the dramatic improvement in his physical health, agility and daily functioning through the.........................

DataTable using SignalR+AngularJS+EntityFramework

DataTable using SignalR+AngularJS+EntityFramework | ristinaKaed | Scoop.it

SignalR brought developers an easier way to build real-time, very responsive web applications. But, how does it play with other available technologies? I took a couple of days to implement a very common scenario needed in every Enterprise Application: A DataTable to do CRUD operations persisting changes on a database.

My initial thought was this is going to be a trivial task, I have done DataTables a few times in the past. Then, I realized the real-time model with many concurrent users introduces a few challenges.

Both Loners And Extroverts Will Be Productive In The ‘Office Of The Future’

Both Loners And Extroverts Will Be Productive In The ‘Office Of The Future’ | ristinaKaed | Scoop.it

An introvert, an extrovert, and a CEO walk into a bar …

Heard that one before? Probably not. Thankfully.

But just grouping those three types of people together in a space shows how uncomfortable they all might be. Not everybody works well in the same types of spaces and with different types of people.

With big companies like Apple and Google redesigning their headquarters, there’s a lot of talk about office design. They’re trying to find ways to have the introvert and the extrovert (and the CEO) all walk into an office and be totally at ease and in their comfort zones.

Assessing a Job Candidate

Assessing a Job Candidate | ristinaKaed | Scoop.it
Executive Search Michael Page International - Team Profile

infozone's curator insight, June 12, 2013 11:35 PM

Picking the right person for the job is a great quality in today’s economy. There are a number of ways to gauge a potential employee’s effectiveness on the job.

The first step in deciding upon a person to fill a position is to get a lineup of resumes or applications and mill through them. Picking the first person should be of utmost importance. Typically, this is the person that the employer more than likely thinks will get the job right off the bat. This can prove to be a wrong assumption, however, so further evidence is needed during the interview process.

As the interviewee approaches, it pays to take into account the type of posture and clothing they represent. A good and efficient manner of dress is an indication of an ability to please without being flashy. Presence and mannerisms such as body language are also cues into the mind of the applicant. Skilled interviews can sometimes tell the difference between a good but nervous employee and someone who is clearly under experienced or not the right fit for the job in question.

http://www.inc.com/resources/recruiting/articles/20041001/assessment.html

Questions to ask during the interview should effectively gauge the willingness of the applicant to devote their time and energy to their job fully. As such, researched and proven experience is a plus, such as a vocal description of how the applicant managed other employees or diffused a potentially ugly situation in the workplace. These are the qualities of a good worker and someone who takes their job seriously.

Sales tends to be the most difficult job to assess a candidate, and companies looking for sales representatives should know the tricks needed for exceptional executive recruitment. Salespersons need managers, so hiring through an agency will ensure that even the most green employees will be under the watch of someone who is both experienced in managing and preventing problems from happening. This leaves more time for the company owner to focus on other aspects of their business, while giving them peace of mind.

Checking the applicant’s knowledge of work situations is another method into finding out who will be the best person for the job. This includes asking the applicant the best ways to deal with a situation or problem that may arise. The crafty employee will tell the interviewer of an experience they have encountered and dealt with, whether in a positive or negative manner. This truthful answer helps the interviewer decide whether they could benefit from high level training or are simply too green to hire. Recruitment agencies take the majority of the guesswork away by presenting only the most qualified applicants to the company for hire. These can be effectively narrowed down and personalized so that only the cream of the crop ever makes it to the initial interview. For a company looking to invest in executive power, these agencies are a great choice for any potential hiring options.

Jose Jordan's curator insight, June 28, 2013 10:48 AM

is this good or bad you'll need to answer for yourself

Gary Goel's curator insight, April 12, 2013 8:53 AM

I still have to Roll with Android unless Apple made a deal with ADOBE yet? Anyone know? I love the smooth interface and camera but I still see blank spots where there is " FLASH" from Adobe. Meaning as a person in Business I don't get full Web. But if anyone knows an app or can update me on that I would buy the ever fashionable IPHONE. But Google is Google and Google has the Open Source Lanquage that give the power of the world to download and create. Apple remains Proprietary and you have to buy their apps or a limited to their apps right? Or do they let people download and build what they  want?

I think science can only go so far. Experience and wisdom like David Cohen has, will continue to be the best method. Tools and data analysis will continue to push towards the highest bar (personal experience and wisdom and gut feel) but will never reach that. You can't mechanize everything.
