This is one reason why we're pushing hard for more local protein production here in northwest Michigan.  We'd like to at least be able to ask a farmer what they fed that steer, or that hog, or that chicken.

Labeling would not ban the technology or force farmers and manufacturers to switch to non-GE ingredients; it would simply require that food containing GE ingredients be labeled, so that consumers can make informed decisions about what they want to eat.
