"Jenkins's address, "A Brief History of Transmedia Worlds," focused on "world-building" described as "the process of designing a fictional universe that will sustain franchise development, [and is] sufficiently detailed to enable many different stories to emerge but coherent enough so that each story feels like it fits with the others."

The music was extended to finished at the same point the amazing animation "The shadow of the Blue" who was directed by Carlos Lascano.

Here is a little history of this short:

There she is: little and fragile, on her blue dress, as blue as her eyes.

It is cloudy, yet she is sitting on a bench at the park, watching the world around: the playground, the trees, the people passing by...

Some butterflies start flitting around her, inviting her to play with them. She picks a glossy paper from her school case and folds it into another butterfly, this one bright and blue, to swing it among its imaginary friends.

Suddenly, a naughty gust of wind seizes her butterfly away, high above, blowing her illusion to the unreachable tree tops.

The sun comes through the foliage, casting the shadows of the world. She sees herself cast on the ground and smiles: her long, long legs would now allow her to catch her butterfly. As going after it, she finds herself having fun on the playground, climbing trees, running across the park... and leading us through different visions of the same reality, blurring the boundaries between the fantastic and the real world..

How determining can reality be, and how can fantasy unleash an unexpected freedom?

Director: Carlos Lascano

Why Games May Become the Education of the Future

Why Games May Become the Education of the Future | Digital Cinema - Transmedia | Scoop.it
Parents and teachers are often wary of letting kids spend time playing video games, and would rather they spend time playing outside or reading. But a number of game developers are introducing exciting mods of popular games like Minecraft and SimCity into the classroom and re-imagining how video games can support traditional educational objectives, like learning about ecology, math, and physics.…

Amy Radley's curator insight, October 16, 6:06 AM

It is imperative that we get kids excited to learn these days, and games may be one of the most effective ways to do it. Teachers are now keen to inspire children to take their learning home with them too - perhaps a math based game they have been playing in class is so fun that they want to continue playing at home? This extends their learning time to outside of school hours - and doesn't seem like a chore! Homework in the form of online quizzes and tasks which can be digitally marked instantly makes a better experience for kids and teachers! Less marking and instant gratification for students!

Ingrid Kopp: A Field Guide to Interactive Storytelling - i-Docs

Ingrid Kopp: A Field Guide to Interactive Storytelling - i-Docs | Digital Cinema - Transmedia | Scoop.it
Now with a lot of these interactive projects you really have to think about that. You are having to think about things like user experience design. A really interesting designer called Jason Brush, who is also a filmmaker, said, which really stopped me in my tracks, “If you think about editing as sculpting with time, you are sculpting with time. Your film is always that shape, it is 16:9 maybe 4:3, it is an aspect ratio. Within that, you are sculpting with the time to create your film. Now what you are doing with interactive projects is you are sculpting with both time and space, and you are shaping for use.”

The State of the Art, Part II: Documentary Aesthetics - NFB/blog | Digital Cinema - Transmedia | Scoop.it
If the subjects of your doc are really—shall we say—”out there”, then allowing that to influence the filmmaking process may very well result in some pretty crazy-looking footage! An incredible example of exactly this kind of surreal, unhinged documentary aesthetic is the NFB’s Oscar®-nominated Volcano: An Inquiry into the Life and Death of Malcolm Lowry. It may start out simply enough as a biopic, but this riveting feature doc takes its cue from Lowry’s eccentric prose, and it climbs to zany heights before you know it.
