How will this effect the people sitting behind?
Katie Chase's curator insight, December 5, 2013 9:55 AM

This defeats the purpose of going to the movie theater entirely. It does not make sense to have everyone in the audience bring their tablet to the screening to be able to interact. When everyone in the theater is on a tablet, who is actually watching the film? Audience interactions are a great idea but they are not appropriate for places such as movie theaters. –Aellise Czupryna

Aliens disguised as moustaches are turning humans into zombies! Got your attention?

That’s the idea behind the upcoming social film series presented by Intel and Toshiba, and other brands want in.

The film won’t be coming to theatres near you. Instead, you’ll be able to watch it on Facebook and online over the next couple of weeks.

“We are always looking at new ways to engage and entertain consumers in a brand experience – in particular younger consumers – and this idea is a great way to do that,” says Billie Goldman, Partner Marketing Manager at Intel.

I have too many opinions on this subject but I don't wish ti bore anyone. Nor do I wish to detract from the article. It is a New York Times opinion piece and you may have to register to read the entire article but I think you will find it worthwhile.

If you have children just starting on-line (for me grandchildren) there is usefull advice about dealing with cyber bullying.

But the piece is primarily targetted at an adult audience. Discussion on-line is a usefull way to expand your horizons but it comes with dangers that you don't experience in face to face exchanges.

I sm pretty thick skinned an sufficiently arrogant that I mostly ignore negative comments. But this piece offered some advice that will cause me to mend my ways a bit.

Interesting points in this piece. The one thing that jumps off the page for me is how the female demographic is sometimes an after-thought and carry minor roles to the male-centric story headliner of fan culture stories. Our brain is the original flight simulator.  Nothing is as powerful as the human brains' ability to visualize and imagine and fill in the storyworld of what we hear.  Years of storytellers have taken us on all kinds of journeys, from Lake Wobegon to War of the Worlds.  Very smart to hear that BBC Radio thinks of listeners as 'viewers.'

Airbnb Releases First Short Film Made Entirely of Vines

Airbnb Releases First Short Film Made Entirely of Vines | Digital Cinema - Transmedia | Scoop.it

In late August we reported that Airbnb was embarking on the first-ever short film using Vine videos, called Hollywood and Vines.

To achieve this, the company released a shot-list over Twitter that anyone could film for submission, and offered a $100 Airbnb credit to anyone lucky enough to have their Vine included in the final product.

In all, the project attracted over 750 submissions from around the world and 100 Vines were used in the final film, which was released online and on Sundance Channel this week.
