Cegid HQ recently studied a number of big retailers, 4 industry experts and 500 shoppers for their 2013 Retail and IT Trends Report. This yearly study is designed to get a broad overview of the current trends in the industry and shoppers attitudes to technological innovations both in-store and online.

It is clear from the study that retailers are looking to further develop their relationships with customers. 40% of the retailers surveyed, think that the store will be a place for exchange between customers and sales associates, allowing retailers to get a great understanding of their customer base.

The report, conducted by analytics company SAS and retail analysts Conlumino, predicts retail growth next year will be the highest for six years.

The findings are in contrast to Conlumino findings in January this year when it found that 62 per cent of shoppers said they were planning to reduce retail spend in the first half of this year.

Le leader britannique de la distribution a fait un pas supplémentaire dans l’introduction du digital dans ses boutiques. En effet, à l’occasion des fêtes de Noël, Tesco a mis en place dans 11 de ses boutiques installées dans des stations de métro, des vitrines virtuelles qui permettent de voir les articles à la vente en réalité augmentée. En scannant des QR codes présents dans ces vitrines animées, les clients peuvent découvrir des produits sous plusieurs angles directement sur leur portable puis les commander en ligne avant de les récupérer dans le magasin. Ils peuvent donc découvrir le produit et l’acheter sans même entrer dans la boutique. Ces vitrines proposant la réalité augmentée ont été installées dans les “Metro Tesco Stores”, des points de ventes au format adapté aux stations de métro, de Bristol, Londres, Manchester, Cardiff et Liverpool.

"Le e-commerce est aujourd'hui une évidence pour les consommateurs. Il est donc aussi inéluctable pour les enseignes", note Florence Soubeyran, responsable du pôle franchise et commerce associé des Banques Populaires: 53% des franchiseurs sont désormais doté d'un site marchand (+5 points par rapport à 2012) et 43% déclarent avoir mis en place une stratégie multi-canal (37% en 2012). L'enquête montre notamment que l'utilisation des réseaux sociaux progresse significativement en 2013: ainsi 84% des franchisés ont créé une page Facebook dédiée à leur point de vente. Mais l'enjeu principal pour chaque enseigne, est désormais de transformer les internautes en clients dans les magasins. En effet, souligne Florence Soubeyran, "près de neuf franchiseurs sur 10 (87 %) encouragent le "Web to store" et ont mis en place au moins un dispositif pour inciter les consommateurs à se rendre dans les points de vente de leurs réseaux. Ainsi, 69% des sites des franchiseurs présentent les opérations promotionnelles en magasin."
