Maybe the only thing people in the San Francisco Bay Area obsess over more than technology is food.
So it makes sense that there is so much interest in food startups in the area. I had the opportunity to moderate a panel of startups for the FoodStartups meet-up group recently. The speakers were a nice mix of companies working on different parts of the food chain. Some like Kitchit, focus on creating new ways for consumers to experience food and meals. Others like Localdirt connect consumers (and retailers) directly to healthy local food producers.
