How to Deal with an Upset Customer

How to Deal with an Upset Customer | Restaurant Marketing News, Ideas & Articles | Scoop.it
When you argue with a customer, you never “win.” Doing so only drives a wedge between the customer and the business. Blaming an upset customer for anything stops all communication and almost guarantees they will become a spokesperson for how bad your business is.
Bob Frazier's insight:

You will never win an argument with a customer! Teach your staff how to handle these situations and help them become the super stars you need! Training is an important management function that must happen everyday! Training reduces turnover and is a good investment, help your staff become tomorrow's leaders!. For a weekly recap of restaurant industry news, ideas and articles subscribe to the "Restaurant Weekly Recap" at http://pos-advicenewsletter.com/

Another No-tipping Test is Scrapped at Fedora in NYC

Another No-tipping Test is Scrapped at Fedora in NYC | Restaurant Marketing News, Ideas & Articles | Scoop.it

Almost from the time he did away with tipping, Stulman had noticed considerable sticker shock on the part of customers, he explained at a “town hall meeting” on tipping in New York City about two weeks after Fedora made the change. Stulman had raised the restaurant’s prices to generate funds for paying servers instead of leaving them dependent on tips. In some instances, Stulman said, customers were paying less for a dish than they did when a tip was added to the charge. He cited the example of a steak that sold for $34, for which guests typically left a 22.5 percent gratuity, meaning their total outlay was about $41. With the elimination of tipping, Fedora raised the price of the steak to $39, gratuity included. Yet many diners just did not take to the setup, and sales plummeted, Stulman said at the meeting.

Bob Frazier's insight:

The tipping debate continues and we'll be discussing tipping vs. no-tipping restaurants for a long time! Are you for or against No Tipping Restaurants?
